Our little alarm clock, whose birthday it was that day, got us up at exactly 8:00. She didn't seem to know it was her special day, but she would soon.
We got dressed and headed out, cameras and camcorders, Pal Mickey and other such necessities in hand. DS-11, Daniel had really taken a liking to Pal Mickey and offered to carry him so DD-6's, Holly's, arms wouldn't get tired.
Pal Mickey likes to tell us things. Sometimes it's something informative and sometimes he just wants to tell us a joke. He's a funny guy.
We got to MK at about 9:00 and our PS at Crystal Palace was at 9:45 so we didn't have alot time for rides. Went in City Hall and got Ella's birthday button. It was very empty in the park and we got a good picture in front of the castle with no one around.
We entered Fantasyland and it was really empty too. No one was even in line at Snow White's ride so we got on it. Ella's first ride at WDW. She didn't much care for that. Probably not a good first choice for a baby. Felt like a bad mom.
We went on to CP and checked in. Got our table right away and proceeded to fill our plates. I love the eating part of the trip. Everything was very tasty, especially the hash brown potato casserole and this dish that I didn't want to try at first. It was called breakfast lasagna. That name implies meat and cheese to me, only it looked kind of like layered pancakes with some kind of sauce with some blueberries. I passed it by once but on my second trip I went ahead and got some. Very, very yummy, I recommend it. Also the coffee cake was good. Holly seemed to enjoy a muffin for her $9.95 and Daniel can eat his weight in bacon.
We waited a while before the characters started showing up. They kept getting to the table next to us and then turning around and leaving. We thought maybe we smelled bad to them. Piglet doesn't come to your table, he waits up by the buffet, so we took Ella to see him and she seemed to be OK with him.
Next thing we know, Eeyore appears out of nowhere right behind her high chair. She took one look at that big gray donkey and flipped out! Her head, arms and legs all came forward like arrows to mommy. Like a perfect little horseshoe. We took a quick picture anyway.
We thought, well she's just not familiar with Eeyore, she'll be happy to see Tigger and Pooh. Uh-uh,
not so. She wanted nothing to do with any of them. It was her birthday and she was not happy at all. Again I felt like a bad mommy. I made a quick mental note to cancel Tuesday nights PS at CP. I had made 2 PS's to eat there because I just knew how much she would love seeing Pooh. Boy was I wrong.
They gave her a birthday card signed by all the characters and a little cupcake and we sang happy birthday. That made her happy again.
So we headed back out to Fantasyland to try some more rides. We got right in Philharmagic. It was great. We all really liked it. Daniel gave it an A+. Not knowing any better Holly offered up an A-. She's in first grade, she really doesn't know the grading scale that well. This angered Daniel, who lives to argue. It's like oxygen to him. He has to argue to exist. I jumped in and broke it up, got everyone back to a calm peaceful existence.
No lines anywhere really. Waited about 10 minutes for Peter Pan. After that first ride on Snow White Ella was very suspicious of every ride we took her on, even the Pooh one. I felt like I had scarred her for life. But then we rode Tea Cups and the Carousel and she really loved them.
She was getting tired so I headed back on my own with her to the hotel for a nap and the others stayed to do some more serious rides.
What is it about hotel rooms that turn kids into energizer bunnies? As soon as we got there she sprang to life. I finally got her to sleep and then in came the others and Holly layed down for a nap too. DH and Daniel headed out to the pool.
When the girls got up, we got them dressed in their matching Minnie Mouse dresses and went back to MK. It was about 5:00, the park was closing at 6:00. We we had a PS at Chef Mickeys at 7:15, which I was beginning to worry about because of the characters.
Still not very crowded so we got to ride all the Fantasyland stuff again! We filtered through the stores on Main Street and still had lots of time and energy left so we walked to the Contemporary. We had bought a balloon for the birthday girl and tied it to her stroller. It beat me in the face the whole way.
Checked in a little early for our PS and they seated us within about 5 minutes. Got the table right next to where people line up to check-in with the hostess. Lovely. Now everyone gets to watch me while I pig out. Oh, don't get me wrong, I'll still do it, I came to eat!
Everything I ate was good, it did seem the selection was not as good as previous trips. I got the very end piece of the prime rib, which I take it no one else in the world goes for but me from the look the guy gave me. DH's whole family likes their meat nice and bloody. Yuck! Daniel ate pizza then dessert, then back for some chicken fingers and hot dogs. Then more dessert. Holly ate olives, shredded cheese, 1/2 piece of chicken and went and got an ice cream bowl FULL of M&M's! She ate them with a spoon.
The characters started coming around and I guess Ella was getting used to it because she only squirmed a little, she even touched Mickey and Minnie. Not bad at all.
Another birthday cupcake and verse of Happy Birthday to you for Ella. They also gave her a nice placemat signed by all the characters.
Time to leave but Holly still had so many M&M's to finish and she didn't want to leave them. So she went over and brought back an ice cream cone to put them in. That worked well, so she went back and got two more cones and filled them up. Are we bad people?
Took the monorail back to GF and listened to a little of the wonderful Christmas music they play in the main building. It really is the best place to stay at Christmas time.
We all went to bed feeling great and happy and excited about the next day. We had no reason not to be. Yet.
