Does Univ. & Island of Adv. have " Baby Swap" like they do at Disney World ?

Since this was posted on the resorts board, I'm going to move this to the themepark board so you can get more answers.

Yes, but their system is simpler. Everybody goes through the line, then at the load area whomever is going to wait goes to the designated waiting room. That room is near the ride exit.

After you swap, you and anyone else that wants to ride again can do so, no waiting in line again. You get right on (less than 5 min wait)

I found the baby swap system at US/IOA not worth it if there is a line. Because the child has to wait in the line with you which could be for 20-40 mins. Forget it if you have to carry them. Then they must usually sit in a room with no toys or entertainment. Can you image some kids reaction to having to wait that long in a line then not get to go on the ride? Not fun, for the kid or the one watching them. If the line is only 5-10 mins. not so bad.

I actually like it better than other themeparks because it is in an airconditioned room where you can sit down. Most of them have lots of windows so you can wave at your family as they leave on the ride.

I agree and that is why we never used it before. I'd much rather leave my child in their stroller and walk around or get a snack or change diapers - anything but stand in line for a ride they can't ride. In the past we were told to wait in line and go to the swap at the front of the line.

It turns out you could have just gone through the exit to the swap room and not wait in line- why don't they tell you that? We could have walked around, or something and when they were close, my husband could have called and we would have gone into the swap area - you can even take a stroller into many of them. Why doesn't anyone tell you that!!!!

Last week we made a quick trip to Universal and only brought my three older boys (ages 10, 9, and 5) for reasons that I've mentioned before. The child swap worked great in this situation. My 5 year old could do everything but mummy and the 2 coasters - we waited in line sometimes and sometimes went in the exit. The room was air conditioned and there was a TV in Mummy and Hulk and my five year old would watch it or play a game on my phone. The swap was quick - it was great. Dueling Dragons does not have a TV, no ventilation and the swap took a long time.

I think their system is great for older kids, and would work fine for younger ones if someone would let us know that we don't have to wait in line. They also have a diaper changing table in every swap room I saw

Everyone is encouraged to go through the line because they are all intricately themed/designed. The queue in itself is an experience. Some queues (MiB, ROTM) have interactive props, which provide a nice distraction. That's why most TMs will tell you to go through the line and then split/swap at the top.

If you would rather wait outside/go directly to the swap room while the rest of your party goes through the line, you can do that. Just ask the TM at the front how to get to the waiting area and they'll tell you. :cool2:
