Ok, I just came across this baby swap thing. I did a search and got a lot of info but I'm still a little confused as to where you get the baby swap pass. Do you wait in line with the rest of your party and then get it when you get to the front of the line? Or do you get it at the end of the line and then wait somewhere for the rest of your party. Any info would be great. I think this is such a good idea and will save us a lot of time so we won't have to wait in line twice(we will have an 18 mo old, 4yo(she's tall enough for everything but Indy), me my dh and my sister).

I always assumed the attendant at the ride just let parent #1 then parent #2 waited w/ the little one while the other 2 were on the ride...they get off then parent #2 goes on w/ 1st child.
If that's not the case I need the info too b/c eventually when we bring DS he will too short & DD would love a reason to ride twice! ;)

THey do this at Sea World too but we didn't go on any rides so I have no idea of the process....

Edited to add: I called the Disney travel & asked this question but can't remember the answer - you could call them for precise instructions.

I had no idea about this until today. But from what I understand you actually get a pass(like a fastpass) and then go on after the others get off. So I'm just looking for the WHERE aspect of it all.

I am unaware of any passes but when we used it last in 2004 we were told to come up the exit line and wait and then the cm would seat one of us on the ride and when it was over we would get off and swap go on the ride again and go back out on through the exit line. This was also the way they seated anyone who was physically challenged or needed assistance also.

They do give out actual pieces of paper for rider switch passes. You get these from the CM standing at the beginning of the line on rides with height requirements. First all but one of the group members tall enough to ride the ride go through the regular line while one person and any who are too short to ride wait. Then, the other parent, with one other person, either go through the exit or through the FP line (depends on the ride--i.e.--Space Mountain--exit, Soarin' Over CA--FP line) with the switch pass and ride.

Can't help with DL, but at WDW you received a pass similar to a fastpass. The first person went on the ride through the regular line, while the rest of the party waited outside. Then they returned, and the other adult could go through the "fastpass" line with their baby swap pass.

I thought it was similar at DLR -- in terms of having a pass -- but some rides you wait together inside, and some you do as above. :confused3

Your right I forgot about those pieces of paper....been so long :sad1:

Baby switch is the best - especially when used with fast pass. Get your normal fast pass tickets (only the amount needed for the 1st group going on the ride). When it is your time, show the attendant (at the beginning of the line) that you have a 2nd party, and then they give you a little slip of paper to "switch". After group 1 is done, group 2 (can include 1 person from group 1) goes back through the fast pass line - it is great!!!!

I second this, it works awesome with a family of 4 or 5. I have a family of 5 and my youngest was 2 and couldn't go on several rides, but my two older daughters could go on all of them.

For example, my wife and DD8 would go get a fastpass for Indiana Jones while me and my DD6 would go get a fastpass for Splash Mountain. Lets say our time for Indiana Jones came up first, we would go to the ride, walk up to the cast member standing at the fastpass entrance (we didn't wait in line, just go up to them) and asked for a baby swap pass. My wife and DD8 would then proceed down the fastpass line while me and my DD6 waited for them to get off the ride.

TIP: We would take their park passes and go get another fastpass while they were on the ride. For example, let's say their Indiana Jones fastpass times were between 10:00 am - 11:00 am. We can show up for the ride anytime after 10:00 am and they get to use the fastpass line. In this example, let's say we show up at 10:15 am, get the baby swap, and I take my wife and DD8's annual passes before they get in line. While they are in line for the ride, me, my DD6, and my DD2 would head over to another ride like Big Thunder Mountain and get a fast pass using my wife and DD8's park passes. This can be done as long as you are requesting another FP after the start time of their current FP. In this case the start time was 10:00 am, and we were requesting the new FP after that start time. We then head back over to Indiana Jones, and only have to wait for a few minutes before they are off the ride. Then me and my DD6 get to walk right down the same fastpass line, but instead use the baby swap pass, and get the same preferrential treatment as the FP users get.

You can continue the cycle like this all day, getting fastpasses and using them at the exact same time you obtain the baby swap.

Make sure you take advantage of the baby swap while you can. It's great and can save you a TON of time if used right. :thumbsup2
