we'd like to have an adults night out while staying at Foprt Wilderness (Cabin).
Anyone have recommendations for sitting services for a 6 yo and 1 yo for dinnertine until ? midnight? :hyper:

I'd like to find a reliable sitter who is flexible enough to take the little ones for pizza or to the campfire if they're up to it...then hose 'em down and do bedtime. :grouphug:

They do have the fairy Godmother service..but it is in room only. I am not certain of a baby sitting service that would take them out of the room unless you can find a nanny service. I don't know of any though. :(

If it was me.. I think I would rather them just stay in the room... kids can get away so fast... but thats is mine.. you know yours.. I know the campfire is lots of fun... we have been to that... its really neat! I know it must be a hard decision..

Enjoy staying in the cabins! We enjoyed that too!!!!!!!!

Have fun on your night out too!

We've used Fairy Godmothers several times and been quite pleased. It's a small, family run company. My DS, 3, loves his sitters from FG.

Sitters will take your kids out, just not to water activities.

Kids Nite OUt is the Disney sanctioned company, and lots of people have good things to say about them, too.

Is there a link to Fairy Godmothers? This sounds like a great idea for 1 night sans kiddos! Also, is there a way to run backround checks on the sitter you get? I want to be sure there are no "bad" people taking care of mine.

No link to Fairy Godmothers. It's a family run company by a woman who is older, and she does business the old fashioned way...by telephone.

Kids Nite out is kidsniteout.com

Not sure that you could do a background check on the sitters. Normally, you don't know exactly who your are getting until that night. Kids Nite Out does use background checks, I believe. Not sure about FG; with them, it tends to be the very positive word of mouth with their sitters.

I would be interested in the same info as the last poster. If anyone knows the answer, please respond. Thank you. :sunny:

We've used Fairy Godmothers several times, and even once while in a camper at FT. Wilderness. We recommend Vivian. While I don't think you can do a background check, we are very picky and "check up" on the sly and have been above and beyond pleased with Fairy Godmothers!!

I have a couple ?

1-What do they charge per hour for 1 child?
2-Is there a min. number of hours?
3-Has anyone experienced your child not wanting you to leave and how did you handle it? I have a 2+ dd and not sure how she would be if we left her with a "stranger". I wouldn't want her to cry and be scared.
4-Do they have some type of pager/paging system in case they need to contact you?

TIA-
Cindy M.

There is typically a four hour minimum, plus a transportation fee. I think it was $12 or $14 an hour.

Normally, the sitter brings a suitcase full of toys. That's a great distraction. Our son, who normally cries when we leave him with sitters (he stops by the time we leave the driveway), was distracted enough with the toys not to cry.

We give the sitter our cellphone, so she can reach us. And of course, we can reach her in the room.
