I went to a very lovely baby shower this past weekend. It was a lot of fun. I got to see people that I don't usually get to see and we enjoyed everything about it...except for some of those silly games. Actually just one silly game called "dirty diaper". Various forms of candy, caramel, peanut butter cups, and a variety of chocolate candy bars are melted inside a disposable diaper in the microwave, and you have to guess what it is! I didn't even feel like opening the diaper. This is a game that we all could live without! :scared:

I'm with you, Dawn. I don't mind the silly games, but that one is just plain gross. :scared:

I hate going when they play those stupid games- I could do without them all! The diaper one-disgusting- the clothespin one where you cant say the word "baby"--stupid. I say baby three times quick just to get those stupid things to someone else so I don't have to be bothered.

That diaper game makes me gag. I can't smell it I just look at it quickly and pass it on.

I just passed it on too. When the instructions include, look, smell, even taste it if you need too.....I don't need to win a party favor! :lmao:

I just don't understand the whole games thing at all. Any shower for me or any shower that I've thrown does not include them. I really hate it when you're chatting with someone you haven't seen in a long time and then you have to stop to play some dumb game in the hopes that you could win a dopey "prize." I'm not 8--I can interact with folks without an icebreaker.

Sorry, Dawn, you obviously hit a sore spot with me. :lmao: I've never actually seen that game you're talking about but I've heard about it. Ick.

That's one of my favorite games out there. I have done it at a lot of showers recently and it is still top on my list. I love the smell of the melting candies. Not gross at all. The taste the baby food game is obnoxious to me. I hate when they do that one. I pass on it.

Hate the silly games. Banned them from my bridal showers and plan on banning them from my baby showers as well.

Around here, they have you eat and then they play the games. They aren't even an icebreaker. Imagine being a shy person who doesn't know anyone at the party. So, unless someone draws you into the conversation, the next thing you know, you're looking into dirty diapers with strangers. Yick! I'll pass.

Plus, I hate the waste that goes into this game. I was at a shower this summer that had multiple tables setup in the brides living room and dining room. Each table got a pile of dirty diapers. Last time I checked, diapers aren't cheap. Such waste for such a stupid and disgusting game.

The smell of melted candies in a powder scented diaper is gross! It is a disgusting game. I wouldn't taste the baby food either. I think once you hit the age of 16 or so, you can "entertain" yourself.

Different strokes for different folks. However I wouldn't call my likes disgusting. I am around babies a lot now and none have powdered scented diapers. No one even uses baby powder anymore. Maybe that's the difference. Melted chocolate & peanuts are yummy to me, not gross. Not all showers are held where everyone knows everyone else. I like them because I usually am surrounded by a lot of people I don't know and I am shy.

I've never been to a shower with games. Maybe they were invented when women would be having babies in their early 20's? I had my 1st at 27, and was the first of my friends to have a baby - most were in their 30's, and beyond silly games.:confused3

I hate shower games. Especially if I don't know anyone! I would rather have as nice conversation with someone that I just met than have them spooning babyfood into my mouth.

Were we at the same shower? I also was at a shower this past weekend and we also played the "dirty diaper" game. Yeah, didn't go over well. I think it's one of those things that sounds like fun but in reality doesn't work all that well.

I've told all my friends, if I ever have a baby, no games at the shower!!!

It just goes to show that you can't please everyone all the time! At my shower, we had everyone bring a baby pic and we put them on a board. You had to figure out who was who- no prize, just for fun.

I haven't seen the melted candy one but was at a shower that had a similar one with various baby foods in the diapers. Utterly tasteless (no pun) and disgusting.

I really don't mind the games too much (although I'll do anything to get out of going to a shower! when did I get old and cranky?!:lmao: ) but there was one game for my niece that I enjoyed. There was a list of questions about her groom-to-be (his mother came up with them) and for each one she didn't know the answer to she had to eat one of those double bubble pieces of gum. By the end she could barely move her mouth and it was funny. Everyone seemed to enjoy it, probably because nothing was required of the guest other than laughing (good-naturedly!) at the bride! Gave us something to do in between opening gifts....

:lmao: That would make a fabulous tag.

I understand that a lot of people like games and most of them, while I find them annoying, aren't gross. Looking at a candy bar that resembles poo in a diaper is kind of gross, don't you think?

That diaper one - ewww :scared: .

My Dsis had really cool games for my shower. She also gave out some really great prizes like Rachel Ray cookbooks and those Yankee Candle reed jars. One game was a frozen tiny baby in a small baby bottle:as it melted and rose to the top you won a prize. No embaressing games for guests, since she gets embarressed easily and understands!

She did have fun embarressing me, though. I guess paybacks are a ***** :) She picked the worst tasting, chunkiest baby foods  for me to guess. She said it's required at every baby shower. :rolleyes1
