:) Guess what- my DH isn't home right now, and he has no idea... I just took a test and.... we're gonna have a baby!!! I can't believe it and had to tell SOMEONE -and who better than strangers :). Anyway, we hadn't booked this yet, but we were thinking of a cruise in October, by my calculations baby would be almost a year old, so how is this going to affect the cruise?? Should I forget it?? I also have twin girls who will be 12 then. So how about a room for 4 plus baby? Would I have to move up to a higher cat or else 2 rooms? Gosh.... so much going thru my head. Hope hubby gets home soon!!

Congrats! So Happy for you and your family. With the Disney Cruise baby will make five so you'll need a room that'll fit five or two rooms! Congrats again!

Congratulations!!!!!!!!!!!!! We cruised with 5 2 weeks ago, and instead of getting a cat 4 room, we opted for 2 cat 10s. Then, since we had room for 8, we invited my parents to come along! Again a big congratulations to you!

Don't worry they have cabins that sleep five :)

its just great! I say go for it, :)

Congratulations! and good luck~

:wave2:

BIG CORRECTION, of course you can understand my excitment, but the baby will be only 3 months old- not 1 year!! Oops.

I changed my mind at that...LOL
Personally I wouldn't take a 12 week old baby on a cruise, of course that is me. You can't preplan how things are going to be after a baby is born, one never knows....

Also, you should check into it to , I beleive I read someplace where a baby has to be a certain age before it can be taken on a cruise...and IF my memory serves me correctly, it was 12 weeks....but double check....

Good luck~

ps- did you tell the hub yet?

Congradulations !!!

DCL age restrictions is that the baby MUST be 12 weeks old. That means if the baby is late, you might have to cancel the trip.

You'll have to call DCL to make sure, but if the 5th person is an infant, you might be able to get by with a stateroom for 4. DCL will provide one of those pack-n-play cribs for infants, but that will make space pretty tight.

A baby that age is easy!! Go for it. We had never been on a cruise before and our 4th was born just months before the cruise. He was just about 13 weeks when we went. By that time you are used to the extra little person around and ready for a vacation. We had also moved to a new state and my other 3 were 9,7, and 4--one of which is mentally retarded. So yes, people always remark how we "have our hands full." I guess we do but we don't feel that way. It is life.

Traveling at that age was easy because all we had to pack was diapers. As long as you are breastfeeding it is SO easy. Also I brought my sling along so that I could easily carry baby and have my hands free. Since they sleep so much at that age I didn't want to always be stuck in the room. Matter of fact we never went to the room for a nap. He just "hung" out with us all the time. And at dinner I could just nurse him discreetly down inside the sling and everyone just thought the baby was sleeping all the time. Only problem for me was that I still carried an extra 30 pounds of baby fat and didn't fit into my clothes very well.

We liked the cruise so much we booked another one 5 months later. It was a bit harder when he was crawling around because he always wanted to be down on the floor ---dirty, yuck! So he is a lucky baby--2 cruises in his first year of life. Took me 34 years to go on one!

You will have fun! Congrats!!!

Glad to see I'm not alone. We'll be traveling with a 16 week old on November 30. You will have to get a stateroom for 5, and make sure to request the crib when making reservations.

I bet my son will be easier than the soon to be 3 and 8 year old sisters!

I sure do agree with the extra baby fat.

Congratulations!! :sunny:

Told hubby when he got home last night and he is so excited! This is his first baby- I have the twins who are 11, from my first husband. So you can imagine he is very excited. He said its up to me about the cruise and I told him how much easier it would be with an infant and if we don't go in Oct - forget it for about 4 years. :D So I bet we'll book and go! Only bad timing on our part is my company gives us tickets to Daytona July Nascar race and I bet I'll be due at the end of july, so I bet we won't be able to go!! :( Yes, I know- its worth it, but you don't understand, free tickets and also there with my company you get a pass to go just about anywhere- last year I got a bunch of pictures with drivers- Jeff Gordon being one of them.) Oh well- this will be worth it- I KNOW that!!:smooth: I'm excited about it!!

Congratulations to you and your husband! Thank you for sharing your news with all of us. I am glad to hear that there is another #24 fan in the world. With all of the Dale, Jr. fans in my life, I thought I was the only one. At least I have convinced one of my daughters to follow in my footsteps.

Do it!! They're easier then--we flew w/ our 4 month old from Florida to Montana (long) and people couldn't believe how good she was--she slept during flights and was awake during layovers. The older babies want to get down and crawl, walk, etc. My parents have 7 kids and moms always said they're easier younger. Have fun.

that you should go PROVIDED your not late at having your baby since the rules are they have to be 12 weeks to cruise. wouldn't that be an awful thing if you booked it and had your baby late:(

As much as I believe in having my baby naturally I know they are not goint to let me go more than 2-3 weeks late. Just to be safe, book your cruise 2 weeks after the 12 week old suspected due date. Have fun!!

OK I'll play devils advocate!

I would not cruise with a baby. You pay all that money, and your time is severely restricted. Most shore excursions are out, making it through meals without interruption is slim, and what if the baby gets sick (either seasick or otherwise)?

It depends on your comfort level with traveling with a newborn. I'd do it in heartbeat! I'm 8 months pregnant with #2 and would love to book a cruise with a 14 week old. However, I agree with the other posters and I would make sure the cruise is at least 14 weeks from my due date. Up to 2 weeks late can be normal (but the idea makes me want to cry) and the baby must be 12 weeks per DCL rules. As far as being seasick -- my understanding is that a baby that age can't get seasick. My only concern would be the amount of people that your baby would be in contact with. DCL is awesome about minimizing germs, they have signs everywhere directing you to wash your hands and those individually packed wipes are at all the restaurants. Also, they will not allow you to cruise if you have been sick recently. I would get the trip insurance, just in case you or the baby are not up to cruising. There are still a ton of fun things you could do with a baby and I think you could still do many of the excursions. We recently got back from a cruise with a 3 year old and are amazed at how much fun we ALL had. I feel like I had a "grown up" vacation, but we did almost everything with our dd. She felt like she had a "kids" vacation, but she was with us. It was the best of both worlds. My husband was a good sport about going, but is not into disney the same way I am, so he was not expecting it to be his dream vacation. He had recommended the cruise to both his brothers and we are already discussing booking our next cruise -- at his suggestion.

Have fun and Congratulations!!!!!!

How about taking a cruise, before the baby comes?? It could be a last hurrah for you and your husband and the twins before the new one arrives. And what better vacation for a pregnant woman where she can eat all she wants!!
I just came off our first Disney cruise where I was 18 weeks along. I would highly recommend that you go while you're in your second trimester. Disney also doesn't allow you to cruise past 24 weeks pregnant. We had a wonderful relaxing time and it was great to reconnect with my husband before all the fuss and chaos (albeit wonderful) of a newborn arrives. We went at our own pace, as I did get tired easier, but it forced me to slow down and enjoy my surroundings.
This is our first and we know we wouldn't be cruising again for quite a while.

It's fun reading all these opinions. I think it is all how you look at it. Will the baby tie you down, slow you up, be a bother etc??? Or will you just take life as it comes and do what you want to do with an added little person enjoying it with you?

I guess that is like my friends who don't want to "do Disney" until their kids are the "right" age. Well, I think my kids have enjoyed it at all ages. At 18 months they enjoyed the lights and characters, simple rides and ice cream. By 2 the characters and rides are more fun and at 3, fun still!! 4 is magical when they believe the characters are so real and at 5 they love the faster rides but still the magic of Goofy and Cinderella dancing with them. And so it goes as they grow.....

My 14 month old is starting to recognize Mickey (mee mee) ---probably because we have traveled to FL 3 times in his first year! OK---we are possibly a little nuts. We are the ones with the 3 strollers since my 5 year old still doesn't want to walk the whole way and our boy with special needs will escape to "help" any CM in any job if he is not hooked in his big handicapped stroller and half the time the 1 year old is in his stroller if he is not being carried on my hip in the sling. Yes, it can be stressful at times but well worth the time, effort, and money for those memories!!!!
