Hi

Im really sorry if this question has been asked before :confused3, (but its a long time since we have travelled with a baby so everything's changed soo much :scared1:)

I no I can pre-order readymade baby milk from Boots airside at Manchester but if I have any un-opened cartons can I take them into the USA??

I remember years ago in the hight of the foot&mouth that they took sealed jars of baby food off me as they contained "Meat"!!!!:rotfl2:

Also any idea how far in advance I should order the milk???:woohoo:

Many thanks:worship:

If you have any un- opened cartons left after the flight you can't take them into the US, you will just have to leave them on the plane.
We had to do this a few weeks ago!!!

Oh my! If I had only known how easy we had it when my DD was a baby and there were no liquid rules!!! Gives me a new respect entirely for those traveling longhaul with infants now!!

If cartons are Un-Open you are allowed to take them into US. You will have to declare them to customs and they will put them through the xray scanner, this is what happened to us this year when we took our GD with us.

 We also did the deoderant thing. DD forgot she had put it into her hand luggage - 1 x very large aerosol body spray and a full size body lotion. Imagine my reaction when we got to Orlando having been through security twice (indirect)

Good to see you home safe and sound. Hope the girls get back into routine quickly for you :goodvibes

Thanks for all the replys:thumbsup2

Still notsure what to do :confused3

Think I might just leave any unopened cartons in DH handluggage :rotfl2::lmao::laughing:

We've all been teasing you - we knew you would eventually figure it out :lmao:

Just check with them the day before you fly as these policies are constantly changing. Worst case scenario, you leave the suplus on the plane. Otherwise, if you can take it with you, why not?! Besides, as long as they are sealed and you declare them it's not going to be a big problem.

You wouldn't believe some of the stuff I put into my child's hand luggage with her being none the wiser :rotfl: Mind you she appears to be getting her own back now that she is getting older (and wiser) :rolleyes1 There are times when cartons of baby milk and security would appear to be a simple alternative :rotfl:

Could you store it in sterilised bottles or is the baby too young? We did this when my dd was 13 months when security was high and we couldn't take liquid on in any form but baby milk. We had to taste it before they would let us on the plane :)

Not sure if you can do that but I had an Avent formula dispenser with compartments in it where you pre measured the formula powder. All I did was sterilise the bottles add the freshly boiled water to the appropriate mark, leave it to cool and seal it and then mixed up each one as I needed it on the plane. However I am unsure of taking water through in a baby bottle and bottled water you buy is not suitable for them. It would depend if you were comfortable having hot water provided by a restaurant or elsewhere once you are airside :confused3

The avent dispensers are great... I guess it just boils down to whether the airline is happier to let you take liquid or white powder on board :rotfl:

:lmao: True. Although my solution to that now would be to decant the appropriate volume of formula into an empty formula tin and then measure into the dispenser airside. Although I could hardly call formula white.

My 9 year old has just asked what I am 'talking about' on the DIS and I told her. She has given me a suspicious eye and asked WHY I am talking about baby milk :rotfl2: Good question. I guess you guys are all just too much fun :)

OMG Lee have you not seen the instructions on making baby milk up now:headache::headache:

"Bottles should be made using freshly boiled water which has been cooled for approx 30 mins and drunk immediately" :rolleyes1:rolleyes1

No making up a batch and storing in the fridge for 24 hours :rotfl2:

:rotfl2: I'm clearly out of it!! But I will say that my DD is alive and very healthy, despite me storing bottles for 24 hours. I tend to view instructions as suggestions or guidelines unless they specifically spell out what will happen if not  Life was certainly much easier in the 'old days' (9 years ago!)

Oh but wait - I never stored them in the fridge - I was on a plane so it was at room temp. Although that was just the water - I only added the powder as I needed it!

Well apparently if you do that now you can only use Evian!!!!!! :rolleyes1

It's a wonder my 2 older DD's are still alive :lmao::lmao:

No wonder it's so blooming expensive to raise kids!! The government is now making it appear that you are negligent if you don't introduce them to "Branded goods" from birth

Yes, after what it costs nowdays ..... :rotfl:

Anyway, I am a firm believer that controlled bacteria is good for the immune system. Honestly, my DD has only ever had 2 days where she has been unwell enough to call the school and tell them she is not coming in. And I firstly bottle fed her :rolleyes1 and then left my sterilised bottles for 24 hours when travelling longhaul - which happened every other month as her dad travels internationally for work so we used to go and see him! We must have done something right! :)
