Baby Gender Reveal at MK!???

I really wonder how anyone can have a baby shower nowadays without finding out the sex of the baby.

20 -30 some odd years ago we didn't do ultrasounds that often-no one knew. the stores were full of white, yellow and green newborn things
Nowadays-forget it. I looked and could not find any clothes non gender specific! It was weird.

Oh I know. Even when I was pregnant with DD8 it was hard to find anything gender neutral. What I really don't understand is things like car seats and strollers being gender specific. I mean, unless you are dead set on only having one child why would you want a gender specific stroller? Wouldn't you plan on using it for future kids who may or may not be the same gender? It's not a big deal if you have a royal blue stroller but if you have one with pink and purple flowers some people may not want to put their son in a stroller like that. I never really understood the aversion to it myself but some people won't put boys in something made for a girl.

And it seems like to many of the "gender neutral" stuff is really more for boys. At least, society seems to think it is for boys. My friend had a gender neutral stroller for her daughter just in case they had a boy the next time around. It was green and dark gray. Everyone thought her baby was a boy when they saw her in the stroller.

I was helping another friend pick out a baby gift for a coworker who was going to be surprised at delivery. We ended up getting a ducky hooded towel and some diapers because all of the little clothes were so clearly for a girl or a boy. No little green and yellow onesies without it saying something about how handsome the wearer is or how he is a little prince charming.

I agree-we went EVERYWHERE, Babies-r-Us, Big Dept stores, all the tj Maxx's etc.

The baby department at most stores are twin seas of pink and blue. The gender neutral stuff usually consists of a bunch of white onesies and that's about it.

Y'all can have MK.

I'll be training all the animals at AK to bow in reverence as Rafiki holds up a pink or blue doll on Pride Rock while a chorus sings "Circle of Life" with pyrotechnics in the back ground for added effect. Flocks of either pink flamingos or blue macaws will circle over head, and instead of eliminating urates, it will be appropriate gender colored glitter.

Ding, ding, ding! Winner :thumbsup2!

ETA: Do flamingos fly though? I'd like to see that.

Yes in massive flocks.

You can go to etsy or support small businesses that have gender neutral clothing for babies. Although, there's nothing wrong with a little girl wearing a blue onesie, either.

Nothing wrong with a boy wearing pink either. My son wore lots of pink hand me downs when he was very young.

My DS's first big wheel (you know the toddler size) was a pink Minnie Mouse one. He was 2 he couldn't have cared less.

my girls are 11 and 9, back when I had them, there were no car seats, strollers, etc that looked girlie. Now that I have a 2 1/2 year old son, I can easily get a pink stroller or car seat.

You must live somewhere that retained their sense a little longer. My DS is 15 and the pink/blue trend was alive and well here when he was little. I bought him a blue stroller, because it was on sale, and someone warned me that it was a bad idea because I wouldn't be able to use it for a little sister. Ummm, yes I could have (or would have had a little sister materialized).

I bought a few gifts for expecting mamas recently and found quite a bit of neutral stuff at Target. Most of it was definitely pink or blue though.

I dislike pink personally and had no intention of having much of it if DS had been a girl. Back then you could find a lot in bold basic colors like red and green and I liked a lot of that.

I personally think the fireworks should shoot up either male or female parts so everyone in attendance can find out together! It'll be a memorable trip for everyone. ;):rotfl:

I saw something really cute on FB yesterday - expectant couple does a series of 3 photos. In photo one, he's got his hand out with a pink gumball in it, and she's got her hand out with a blue gumball in it. In photo 2, they're blowing bubbles with said gum-his is pink, hers is blue. In photo 3, she has her hand over his mouth, popping his pink bubble, and she's still blowing her blue bubble, meaning it's a boy. Very cute and original.
