I need help! Next week my hubby and I get to find out what we're having and we want to make it special. My plan is to have the doctor write our babies name on the scan pic, put it in an envelope which I would give to my friend and she'd put the rest together. Balloons (appr. color) in a box, photo session etc... but my question is: How do we get this to be approved by Disney!? Should we talk to security? Guest relations? who can ok a big box of balloons to be released at the Magic Kingdom??????:grouphug:

I would vote yes, get in touch with Disney Events division. I would think you'd have better luck doing this at a resort vs at MK; I kind of doubt they would approve something like that. Now, if you want to have your friend reveal the sex of the baby and video you as you stand in front of the castle, for example, that would probably be OK. But I doubt that Disney is going to allow something of that scale (lots of balloons) right at MK.

I would look into having a party at a resort, or maybe a dessert party?? You could contact the Disney bakers (where you order cakes) and see if they do gender reveal cakes. You could have your friend send them the sex of the baby, and then they do a cake. I say that not knowing for sure if they offer this, but it would be worth an ask.

Congratulations on the baby!

I did a Google search, and came upon this link. The person posting also wanted suggestions about doing a gender reveal, and I thought people had some pretty neat suggestions.

You can see a picture - they ended up doing a photo with Mickey, and holding up a banner / sign that said "It's a Girl." I think it turned out very cute.

I love this idea! I wouldn't bother with the whole box of balloons idea. Too much of a hassle (and I seriously doubt MK would allow that). But the gender cake idea is brilliant and so cute! Something like this?

That is ADORABLE. pixiedust:

Another thought (similar to the cake at a restaurant) would be to have your friend book a character lunch or dinner. Then ask to have one of the characters make the announcement by bringing over baby mickey ears in the appropriate color or holding up a sign to reveal.

There's so many people on here with so much knowlege of WDW that I bet someone here may be able to point you in the direction of contacting someone who can work a little surprise for you into one of the parades or the fireworks. That would be so magical!

Magical? Maybe.

Possible? Likely not. Unless you're a V.V.V.V.V.V.V.V.V.V.V.V.V.I.P, they're not modifying a show for you.

Please don't do a balloon release. Terrible for the environment. You don't want the animals at Animal Kingdom ingesting the balloons when they come down, do you?

Why don't you have the information in an envelope, go out to a romantic dinner, and open it then? Isn't that what this is really about -- building your family together? Not some over-the-top empty gesture?

I don't see your friend being able to get into the park with a box filled with balloons. They will inspect the box before she gets to the gate and the balloons would all fly away. What about this kind of idea. Pick a ride that you and your husband really love, like maybe Haunted Mansion. When you get in line, your friend can get the reveal stuff together. You ride the ride and when you come out, you are greeted with your friend holding a bunch of pink or blue Mickey balloons. Another friend can be beside her filming to get your reaction as soon as you see the balloons. Or, another idea would be to do a day at the park and have your friend set it up so that your hotel room gets decorated (either by a company that does that or by herself) so that when you get back to the room, you have your big reveal via how your room is decorated. Bonus for this is that you can have a bunch of Disney baby stuff for when the baby gets here.

There is no one you can talk to get a balloon release approved at WDW. It is illegal in Florida. (And several other states).

"The Legislature finds that the release into the atmosphere of large numbers of balloons inflated with lighter-than-air gases poses a danger and nuisance to the environment, particularly to wildlife and marine animals."

What about a "pirate or princess" themed gender reveal? Instead of a box of balloons, there could be a costume-type thing in the box. You open it up and find either a tiara or a pirate hat (or whatever you might like).

Actually I was illustrating a point. Can you imagine the implications of an idea like this catching on?

OP needs to find a way to achieve her goal that is meaningful to them personally, not something designed for an audience. Personally I'd recommend making arrangements for a nice reveal when they return home as something to look forward when the trip is over, which is always a downer. Guaranteed excitement to look forward to.

Couldn't have said it better.

Or Disney can start selling gender revealing packages. :lmao: It could include announcing it at the fireworks.

What about something simple? Why don't someone buy a Minnie or Mickey stuffed animal and put it Ina box?
