Does anyone know the new policies for carrying on formula or even breast milk? Any tips would be helpful!! :confused3

Last I heard they would allow reasonable amts in excess of the standard the 3oz containers fitting into the 1 qt bag rule for liquids. But that "reasonable" sure is a subjective description.

Last month we took 3 or 4 of the 2oz liquid formula jars and then some of the individual powder sleeves (which mix to 4 oz) and bought bottled water after security. We put the liquid bottles in 2 quart bags and went through security w/out any issues.

When my son was still taking formula, as we were transitioning from breast milk to cow's milk, he wouldn't drink anything that wasn't warmed (we found out later that he had severe acid reflux, and the warmth was probably soothing to his poor little throat.)

If you have a warm-only drinker, here's a few tips for on the road situation. Babies R Us sells a warmer that you can push activate. It only works once, its kind of like those hand warmer dealies (come to think of it, a few of those would probably work too.)

Also, I found that requesting a cup of hot water at a restaurant (or on an airplane) would work too. You could either add a bit of the hot to the bottle, or, if you would prefer to use only bottled, you can actually sit the bottle of formula in the cup of hot water. (Just be careful about melting or making it too hot since they serve tea water at a scalding temp. sometimes.)

Safe travels.

Does any one knows if you can take the new similac 8oz ready to feed formula bottle to the plain? It's easeir then have to care 8 small ones (2oz) but will they allow it?
thanks

Yes - you can take any amount of formula or breastmilk onboard the airplane as it is EXEMPT from the 3-1-1- rule. They do ask that you only bring what is "reasonable" for the lenght of the trip.

Here is lots of great information on traveling with babies and toddlers including the rules on bringing formula/breastmilk.

:goodvibes As a flight att. we are more than happy to warm bottles for passengers. The small coffee cups don't really work to warm a bottle but we have some bigger containers (water pitchers) that we can put them in. I always do this in the galley and because of the hot water we do not give it to the passengers. If we hit a little turbulence then we have burn issues. Also be sure to bring on extra just in case there are delays. TSA doesn't restrict you when travelling with the child. Have a great flight!!!!Maybe I will see you there.

NO PROBLEM!!! took southwest two weeks ago and carried on a bag with just baby food, and a large can of formula ,plus three bottles of water, in baby bottles, plus small pre-measured containers w/ formula in it.....never even got questioned in the security check point .....:goodvibes

HAVE FUN!!!!

Any issues with cows milk? My little is now on milk and by the looks of it Southwest does not offer milk on flight so I will have to purchase it before hand.
