Hi Guys
I know you are not allowed to bring cartons of baby milk into the US only powderd but can you bring jars and packets of baby food thanks.
Claire

I think you are fine as long as the jar or packet is unopened. Hopefully someone else will be able to confirm this :)

I'm not 100 per cent sure, but i don't think you can. I saw 2 families being given a really hard time by customs about it but didn't see the outcome. We didn't take any just bought over there.

I got baby food taken away from me that contained any meat product even though the jars were unopened. You can buy baby food out there its just that the choice is rather limited (my child loved Gerber's range). Not sure about dried food though. If you are staying in a villa you could always cook some meals and blend them to the consistency, this is what we did to vary the variety of food choice.

I've been looking on the US Customs website and it would appear to be the case that any vacuum sealed jars or cans of food are ok provided they don't contain any meat.

We were always planning to buy most of what we need for Joseph out there but I'd like to take a few jars in our hand luggage just in case of some bizarre scenario occuring which meant that we weren't able to get to the store to pick some up straight away. :)

I'll just make sure I take some veggy ones now, which shouldn't be a problem as Joseph loves his veggies at the moment :teeth:

Thanks folks I will take veggie ones, just hope Bailey will eat them. Hard to say as he is just 4 months now so we are just starting to introduce baby rice to him, also we would rather stick to brands we know as he has a hormone deficiency which causes him to loose salt and if he is sick his salt leavels go down, but at the moment there is hope he might grow out of it so fingers crossed.

Claire I have noticed you DS will be approx 8 months by the time you go. My DS is 10 months but at around 8 months he was eating things like weetabix, mashed potato, mashed sweet potato and pasta. If you need to use jars the Hipp range offers a good selection of veg only and its organic!

How do you plan to sterilise when you are away? My friend recently tried to use a microwave steriliser in a disney food court and was not allowed for safety reasons. Boots do travel steriliser bags that you can hang on a door peg that seem ideal! :teeth:
