Baby carrier recommendations?

Our son (just found out today it's a boy!!) is due in March, and then we have our disney trip scheduled for october. I've been looking into baby carriers anyway and figured I want whichever kind I get to be good for use at disney too.

Just curious if anyone's got any recommendations? Light weight, breathable, and easy to put on and take off are my main concerns. I know a lot of people like wraps but they seem like a lot of fabric and...complicated?

I love my wrap and my ergo 360. Wrap was great for the infant stage for me around the house etc. The ergo is best for legs as opposed to the bjorn (from my research) and it fits me and DH. DD lived in it at Disney in May at 10 months!

Ergo is great (it's what I have), but it's not cool. Not at all. A friend has a Tula that she says is lighter than the Ergo (for next baby I'm going to register for a Tula--they look amazing!). But I'll be honest, baby-wearing in FL=sweating. Period. I almost never baby-wear during the day outside (I live in Orlando). I usually use a stroller at WDW. But at night when I'm going to be battling the crowds at park close, my Ergo works perfectly.

Edited to add: bear in mind that it's hoooot here most of the year. This week temps hit 90 every day. Don't count on Oct to be cool.

I had an Ergo organic. The fabric was surprisingly cool. If you're comfortable wrapping, a lightweight wrap is a good option too.

Ergo organic is definitely cooler / more breathable. My ergo was my absolute favorite baby item! I had about 4 different carriers and the ergo was definitely the best for longer periods of time. I have a lot of back problems and the ergo never bothered me.

I have an ergo 360 and a tula toddler.... The ergo 360 was great when baby is big enough to face forward to see everything. I used it on the first trip and had no complaints. Great for waiting in lines. Now that she's 15 months the ergo doesn't seem to have enough support so I just bought the tula toddler...amazing when you get to that stage later on... Pretty prints! If its hot outside you can put a cooling towel between you and baby to keep you both cool. Have a great trip!

At that age I loved using a ring sling. You just slip it over your head like a cross body bag-no tying required. I found it the coolest of my carrier options when we visited in July. Check out Didymos and look at the Didysling.

I personally feel wraps are more snugly and the thin fabric would be better in the heat. Overall though, something like an Ergo is great because they're easy, your husband will probably be more encouraged to use it than a wrap, and they're way better for hiking with a toddler if that's something you're into. There are also things like mei tais that are kind of a cross between the two.

I have the ergo performance. It is very light weight and has the breathable material. My son was carried in it when we were at Disney when he was 9 months old and I still carry him in it when he gets tired (He will be 3 in January) I is one of the best baby purchases I made.

I had an Ergo and now I have a Tula. I prefer the Tula, but if the price is prohibitive, the Ergo is a great way to go.

I have an Ergo and loved it at Disney with my 12 month old on our last trip! I actually didn't find it too hot at all. I mean, I was hot... but it's Florida and you're wearing a baby. The previous trip I had my 8 week old daughter and I wore her in a wrap and THAT was very hot. In comparison, the Ergo was way better. I would say for a 7 month old infant, go for the Ergo over a wrap. They are so squirmy at that age and they start sinking in the wrap because they're so heavy. A structured carrier is going to be much easier.

I too echo the Ergo. However, another carrier that I loved even more was the Becco. It was similar except a) it crossed over the back which for me having smaller shoulders I liked better and b) it allowed baby to face forward. In choosing a carrier I would really wait until baby comes along as ultimately you'll need to pick one that they like to be in. Either way would highly recommend testing one in advance of taking it to Disney. But do support having a carrier - very convenient, including in the airports. We took our 9 month old all over Paris in one and he had a blast!

Lillebaby!! The lillebaby embossed and airflow are really breathable and cool in hot weather. They have a lumbar support which is incredible! I can wear my 6month old or 3 yr old with no problem. They also can be worn in 6 positions. I have an embossed and I LOVE it! It's so soft and pretty and super comfortable!!

I have a beco Gemini and love it. However, if you're going in October, it'll probably be fairly warm still. When I used it at Disney, DS was 4 months old (February), it was fine. Then the following year we went in April and he was 18 months old....too hot! We've never been in October. Anyway, the beco is nice though, easy to nurse in too. Have fun!

I like my ergo, but I think it would be hot in the heat. If you want a simpler/less fabric version of a wrap, definitely look at the k'tan. I had a Moby with my first, and the k'tan is MUCH simpler with significantly less fabric. That said, it looks like your son will be about 5 months when you go, and by then (for me) they're too heavy for a wrap and I like a more structured carrier.

I started with a K'Tan when my baby was very young and loved it. Then as she got bigger/heavier, we moved to an Ergo, which I also love. But for our Disney trip, I didn't feel the Ergo would be practical. It's not easy to get on and off, it's bulky, heavier, and hot. So I did some research and ended up with a very affordable linen ring sling from Soul Slings. I don't love it as much as the Ergo, to be honest (not quite as comfortable), but it's going to be good for our trip. It's light, small for packing, breathable, easy to put on and to slip the baby in and out off for rides/buses, etc. It definitely takes some practice to get right, but watching youtube videos and using it for a few weeks helped immensely!

I had an Ergo and loved it, but it was hot. I think they have a newer version that is made from lighter fabric. You could also look at Kinderpack, which are harder to find I think, they have to be ordered, but they have some with a knit fabric that is much cooler (and come in a few sizes). I used a wrap as well but found it harder to deal with when out and about. As well as a ring sling and pouch sling which were great for hip carries but I preferred getting kiddo up on my back once he was old enough.

You can babywear while on the rides, IF I'm remembering correctly. I'm pretty sure I did when DS was a baby.
