Baby and the Tramp...and a Pop (half) Century! Where Did It Go???

It has been RUMORED that I snore. I probably have sleep apnea (sp?), because I wake up often during the night gasping for breath and feeling like I have cotton shoved halfway down to my lungs. My kids tell me to go to the doctor, but I'm not big on doctors.

carrieannie, declansdad, scottny, VandyFan10, GorshGoofy, and anyone else I've left out - Thanks for the well wishes. We did have a great time, and it was nice to spend so much time with Brooklynn. I miss her toddling around jabbering. Jill said she was walking around the house yesterday saying MeMom over and over. It is just overwhelming sometimes how you can just look at your kids and grandkids and just tear up because you love them so, so, SO much! I hope that during our Disney trips we are making memories that all the kids will treasure for many years to come.

You're welcome. I'm glad you had such a great trip! We're 10 days away from our 1st anniversary trip. I know what you mean about kids. I loved the photo of Brooklyn. I have one of my daughter a few years older ... about to fall asleep in "Living with the Land". She'll always be my baby.

As to the sleep apnea ... go to the doctor!! It sounds like you have it. One big problem is that you can get sleepy and even fall asleep during the day ... in traffic ... tending to kids, etc. The doc will scheudle a sleep study which means they plug you up to monitors and let you ... sleep! That will determine if you have apnea or not.

But enough of that ... back to Disney!

MeMom, Thanks so much for the PM about ASMu :goodvibes . I did PM you back but not sure if you got it .

MeMom snores like a freight train and a hibernating bear and a lumberjack out in the woods all at once. I am truly amazed our neighbors didn't complain.

BrooklynnsMommy, you HAVE to get Mom to go to the doctor! One of my vacations was RUINED by this! I had NO sleep, and ended up "losing" my dinner one night from the stress. So Come on Mom, at some point on the DIS you're going to want to do a DIS trip and maybe have to stay in a room with a DISer (like maybe me). So get it together!!! Take one for the team! :snooty:

MeMom and Brooklyn's Mom this is the first time I have posted in a trip report. I love reading about your family and looking at all the fabulous pictures. MeMom - the love and appreciation for all things you write about makes me stop to remember all that I have to be thankful for - so thank you. We will be visiting WDW and staying at POP and ASMU in March. Maybe we will see you there.

Jill, John, and Brooklynn were here today for a while, and it was a happy day and a sad day at different times. We attended the funeral of a dear, graceful, classy, Christian woman who was finally overcome this week with the cancer that had given her physical body a long and rough battle. She was the wife of my former principal, the mother of three beautiful young women I have worked with in summer camps, grandmother of two little boys, and a little girl, also a Brooklyn. She was a sought after speaker for women's retreats, an author of Sunday School literature, and director of the children's program at her church. She was my kids' teacher when they were in sixth grade, as well. She was responsible for me having the job I have today. She lived a faithful life here on earth, and she will now have her reward for forever.

Our family has lost two very influential, tremendous people in the past few weeks, and although we are sad at the void they leave, we rejoice that neither of them have any more sorrow or pain with their diseases.

As I sat at the funeral, my arm around my own daughter, I did feel sad for the three young women who no longer had their mom to call on. We never know what day will be our last to do good for others, and we never know what words might be our last, so it gave me renewed determination to make every day as good as I can make it, even when things are really bad. Every event may become a special memory to someone, so I will try to make them as happy and joy-filled as possible.

After the funeral, we went to the home of another long-time family friend, Joyce, to make cookies for tomorrow night's Children's Bible Hour. We had to make camels, and let me tell you, those skinny camel legs didn't want to cooperate sometimes in coming out of the cookie cutter. So, we had some long legged camels, and some whose legs baked together into one big leg, and we had some necks that stretched out and looked more like giraffes than camels...BUT, we laughed and talked and made another memory. Brooklynn toddled around the house playing with Joyce's grandchildren's toys, John kept an eye on her, and Joyce, Jill, and I rolled and patted and floured and baked and then painted red saddles on about six dozen cookies that looked something like camels. I don't think the little kids will care much what they look like. At least, I hope not.

I hope that you can look back on your day and pick out one or two things that made today special for you.

On with our first full day of our Christmas trip.

We started out with breakfast at All-Star Music.

P1130131.jpg

I know you are saying, "Where's the fruit?!?!" Never fear. We had already had grapes in the room.

Brooklynn colored about three strokes on a picture.

P1130132.jpg

The first ride, of course, was Dumbo. AKA "Bumbo" by Brooklynn. I know that's what all of my kids called it when they were first learning to talk, also. What about your kids?

P1130136.jpg

P1130139.jpg

We rode Peter Pan next, but I guess I didn't get good pictures of anything in there.

We went over to Small World, which Brooklynn loves. We love watching her try to take it all in. Her head bobs from one side to the other.

P1130142.jpg

P1130146.jpg

And then we said good-bye in many languages.

P1130153.jpg

We didn't have to wait anywhere - just walked right on.

P1130154.jpg

The one ride Brooklynn isn't crazy about is this one.

P1130165.jpg

We found Cinderella's own horse with the golden ribbon on it's tail, which could have been exciting if she were older, but I think all she sees is this:

P1130166.jpg

Yeah, that could be seen as a little less than friendly to a sixteen month old.

We saw these friends

P1130172.jpg

and then went on their ride.

P1130175.jpg

P1130182.jpg

We decided to see the Bear Country Jamboree, since it was about to start.

P1130185.jpg

A while later, we headed toward here:

P1130196.jpg

Do you know where those plates are?

Here's another hint:

P1130198.jpg

and another:

P1130201.jpg

and the answer is (say it with me) Main Street Bakery!

P1130200.jpg

Jill loves the chocolate croissants, and the banana bread was delicious. And the fruit is back in the picture.

After our snack, we heard these guys out on the street.

P1130202.jpg

Everything in Magic Kingdom and everywhere else all week was decorated so nicely.

P1130203.jpg

We just roamed a little. This will be our first meal on our summer trip.

P1130204.jpg

ADRs have already been made.

Brooklynn found....

take a guess....

ducks!

P1130207.jpg

That's it for this evening.

Don't forget, when you're tired and cranky, or when you just don't feel like doing something for or with someone - kids, parents, spouse, friend - try to muster up the energy to do it anyway. Make it a special time - a special memory. I don't think you will regret it.

Have a good evening, everyone!

We welcome you to our group. Maybe we will see you in March. We're staying at Movies, right next door to Music, and we always visit our home - Pop. We'll be there the 15th - 19th.

what a great update. the pics were fantastic. the banana bread sounds good. I love banana bread. CP is one of my favorites. I was told I have to book it for September when we go back.
I would try to find somehting good in the day but being sick a a dog I don't really feel like it. :lmao:
can't wait for more.

i'm so sorry for your losses......

thank you for waiting until the end to take the picture like we're all supposed to!!!! it really gets on my nerves that people NEVER listen to directions while at disney world.

great pics.....can't wait for more! :surfweb:

Hi MeMom,

sorry to hear that you lost another friend in so short a time.
I have a question about the stroller in fantasyland...I have read that some just park it and walk between the rides there...is that what you do. I have never been with strollers before (we are taking 2 umbrella strollers), and your advice on this would be great! Both of my kids a well capable of walking but Emmy loves to be catered to....typical Daddy's little girl:rotfl: She gets away with much more when he is with us than if we are out on our own (mom is such a bad guy! )but actually she doesn't even try to get me to do the things that she can get my husband to do just with a little smile and a "please Daddy"...:lovestruc
(sucker comes to mind sometimes but I just let them work it out for themselves :rotfl: )

Yes, we park and walk in that area. It's not a problem. We go straight to Dumbo at entrance time and get right on without a wait, so we have the stroller with us there. Then we go park the stroller in the area right near Peter Pan. I'm very excited for you with your trip almost here. I think you are going to have a great time.

punkin413 - Yep. I obey the rules. When we went to Little Mermaid later in the week, they said three or four times NO FLASH PHOTOGRAPHY. As soon as the lights went out, somebody snapped. They jumped on everyone in that area and shined a flashlight. A few minutes later, someone else in another area did the same. And again two more times. Every time, a CM got immediately toward that area with a flashlight. So, it was distracting because of the flash and then again because the CMs had to chase them down.

I guess I wonder how people can do that kind of thing with their kids right there. They have been told not to, yet they do it anyway. What example does that set for the kids?

scottny - How are you coming along? Feeling better, I hope.

Gmax - Are you back at work tonight? I have to go back tomorrow, but the students don't come until Tuesday. It has been a nice, nice, nice vacation! I'd like to rewind to Christmas night when we arrived at ASMusic and they were playing "The Santa Clause" out by the pool!

Jill - Thank you so much for going with me. I have such a good time when I am with you and Brooklynn. I love you both so very, very much!!!

exactly! and for me it's not so much that i'm a stickler for the rules. it's just that it really takes away from the show. i mean....seriously. when someone flashes a camera during a show where you know you're not supposed to, i immediately turn around and look at them. then i miss some of the show! and i know that's my own fault but i just can't help giving them a dirty look! :rotfl: i just wish people would have some respect for others that are watching the show as not to distract them.

Hey Mom, so sorry about the passing of your friend. But isnt good to know where she is, with no pain, and you'll get to see her again! :goodvibes

We didn't have to wait anywhere - just walked right on.

I have a pic like this one too!

My sympathies on your losses.

Now I see you are planning to go again in July...Sure you can't hold off til August and meet up with declansdad and I?:lmao:

Hi MeMom! I just finished your latest update :goodvibes Thank-you for your kind words of wisdom..I almost had tears,,its good to be reminded of these things once in a while.
The weather looked cold and wet on that day? the main street bakery snack looked yummy.. And there is no duck like a Disney Duck! We always take pictures of them because they are "special" :cutie:

Very sorry about the loss of your friend..She sounds like a very special lady..

Hi Memom,
Enjoyed your update and pics. My DS3 loved the pictures of all his favorite rides in Fantasyland. Why are not staying at Pop in March? We will be there the 14th-17th.

scottny - The banana bread was so good - so full of nuts. I'm looking forward to Crystal Palace as our start-off meal. Brooklynn will love the characters and the guys will love the food!

Glenda - Good picture. We love early EMH!

pooksma - I see you have more time to hang around the boards now that you're taking time away from work. I'm so glad for you, but JEALOUS! I hope you are enjoying being off, even though I know doing the program is a lot of work. As for waiting until August, as much as I would love to meet you guys, that's probably the worst month ever for me. We start school then, so it's too late for a summer vacation and too early to be able to take off for a break. Eventually our trips are bound to overlap, though.

carrieannie - It was cool in the mornings, but perfect during the day. We always must have at least one stop at Main Street Bakery...usually more!:)

kaysmommie - We love Pop, but we're giving all the values a chance. We liked All-Star Music very much on our Christmas trip. We'll visit our "home" (Pop), though, so hopefully we can meet up. We're arriving on the 15th and leaving on the 19th. Tell me when there's a good time in your schedule, and we can meet at either Pop or one of the parks. We'll have a friend with us this time that will have to buy a ticket, so we may not be hopping if she can't afford it. I'll PM you my cell # and Jill's, and hopefully it will work out for us to at least say a quick hello. We met 5boyz and family just by chance this summer, and we had a nice time talking to them out by the pool. Several other Disers came by and signed our notepad on the door, and my oldest son met one of them while she was writing on it. It was fun!

For those of you who don't already know from their reports, Glenda and snowbell are going to try to meet up in early June if Glenda gets to make her birthday trip. I told them they could just extend their trips a mere three weeks and wait on us to get there. What do you think??? Gmax said sure, she would love to, and she'll wait at the GF, which will only cost her about $12,000!

Now for some more pictures.

Still at the Magic Kingdom, we hit the Jungle Cruise.

P1130208.jpg

P1130213.jpg

I wonder if the Brooklynn and the little girl in the background were scared. Brooklynn looks a bit unsure, and the other little girl looks purely frightened. Maybe they looked up and saw this right on top of them!

DSC02177.jpg

Or this could be a bit disconcerting to a little one.

DSC02175.jpg

Or maybe this.

DSC02178.jpg

We laugh at this ride as adults, but looking at the kids' faces, I guess it could be kind of not so funny to them in some ways.

I'm really not sure where we were when that picture of their faces was snapped, so I'll never know which plastic/rubber/wooden animal was terrorizing them.

Our guide was pretty good. This summer, we had the best guide and the worst guide we've had all in one night. Our guide was so good the first time, we got Trent and Kristi to go back with us later. That guide was....not good. Very pitifully not good. This time our guide was a 7 on a 10 scale. "Jungle Cruise acceptable" corny, but not too corny.

There were more trees to be seen and more shopping to be done.

P1130215.jpg

P1130216.jpg

And now, won't you join us as we watch the parade? Picture yourself sitting or standing right at the turn across from the Liberty Bell, right in front of the snack stand. That's where we were.

DSC02186.jpg

And now, the Magic Kingdom proudly presents:

Jill said Brooklynn just about skyrocketed out of her stroller when she saw Mickey and Minnie.

P1130272.jpg

The soldiers were so cool. They marched in perfect unison, clapping those big wooden feet down and making all kinds of noise.

P1130274.jpg

Santa and the Mrs. were there, even though I'm sure they were so very tired from having been to so many houses just a short time earlier.

P1130278.jpg

Jill and Brooklynn sat right up on the street at the rope so Brooklynn could see. I staked out a spot up on the rock wall behind them where I could stand up and take pictures without obstructing anyone's view. I think I ended up in the better place, because Jill had turkey leg juice dropped in her hair by a girl who came and stood beside them!

Great updates MeMom! I've been away for a few days and I just got caught up.

Turkey leg juice in the hair. That must have made for a pleasant day. :rotfl:

great pics as usual. turkey leg juice in the hair. i would not have been happy at all.
