 I have traveled many times to Disney with my daughter and my baby is going for his 2nd time. My concern is now that he is a little older (8months during trip) that the fireworks may scare him. Do you have any tips? Are there baby earplugs? Anyone with experience with fireworks and an 8 month old? Thanks!

My son was very afraid of the firework when he was about 18 months old. He is turning 3 very soon and is still afraid!!
We have made 3 trips since than, I always make ressies at Ohanas about an hour before the fireworks. They pipe in the music and althought far, still a good view. We are usually eating dessert when the fireworks start!!:cloud9:

At 9 months my DD could never stay awake long enough for them. When she did she fell asleep halfway through! For her it wasn't a problem. One time we got special seating for Illuminations and I was so excited because she would get to see everything and 10 minutes before she fell asleep!:rotfl:

Okay I have different strategies for these things.

Wishes- Book Ohanas for dinner. Book it so that your reservations are an hour before Wishes so you will definately see them!

Illuminations- You could go to the Boardwalk and watch them from that Bridge area near the BC. You can't really hear it well but has a great view!

Fantasmic- Your little one shouldn't mind that much. I mean there is a small section of fireworks but still small. But it is a little loud. So good luck with that!

Anyway have a wonderful trip!

We took our daughter in Dec at 10 months and she slept through every single performance! I was a l ittle worried how she would react but apparently it didn't bother her!

Our DS is three and doesn't like fireworks either. My BF who just got back from WDW shared with me that she gives her little ones ear plugs. Our next trip we are going to give it a try.

I don't think you should be overly concerned. More then likely he is going to sleep right through them. My kids never had a problem with fireworks at this age. My DD was fine until she was about 3 and then was scared until last summer when she was about 51/2. She never saw fireworks at D when she was 4, but went to them all this time (just got back, had a great time) and loved them. I guess I would base it on whether loud noises bother him. You could try those squishy plugs that you fit around the opening of the ear, but at his age he will probably not like it and just pull them out. The hard thing is there is no way of knowing really until you try it. Good luck!

Gosh, I totally forgot about Fantasmic. It has scary parts! Be prepared with something to distract DS with if he gets scared. We just skip it in favor of Wishes.:goodvibes

We are trying earplugs recommended by DS's ENT for this year. (The foam kind you can get in any drug store) We have found that since he has had tubes in his ears he doesn't like loud noises. Last year he covered his eyes becasue they were too loud, that's what he told us:confused3
