For those of you not my f/b friends, due to some very nice relatives I have enough money to get a new computer. I would still like to have a desktop(which is what I have now) but don't know what kind. I have dial-up and can't really afford DSL, whatever that is. Please tell me your favorite brand of computer and if it's a laptop or desktop. I don't know if I really want a laptop or not. I know portability is nice, but I'm not sure if I want to take that leap.

I have an Asus laptop and am very happy with it. I've usually had Dells which I always loved until my last laptop. It was messed up so I traded it back in (thanks Best Buy) and got a more powerful Asus for cheaper. If portability isn't an issue, just go with what is a great price. Though I think you'd really like having the laptop, because you can take it to Starbucks and the like and get online for free.

MeanQueen, you make a good point about laptops. I think that is why I've fallen in love with my iPad. I like the portability I have with it--I can stick it in my pocketbook and go. My favorite is having it at church. The pastor is always using a different translation every week of the Bible, and I have all of the translations as an application on the iPad. I connect to the church's wifi and go on.

Nice! I'm surprised you haven't booked one of the Disney cruises leaving out of NY.

Oh.... well.. if you want my two cents.... as the resident swim mom.... the starter uses a stobe along with the buzzer to start a race. as a timer, you are supposed to start on the flash, not the buzzer.. (although, it's simultaneous... except for the faster than the speed of light thing..whatever..).... anyway... they should have just told you not to take photos at the start, or just use the flash during the race, not while they are on the blocks... It's unfortunate, but I'm sure they just want to avoid the kids being DQ'd for false starts...

That's just it daisyyy... I wasn't shooting while the kids were on the blocks - it's not allowed. Nor is the use of flash during ANY diving event and all of the backstroke.

I was shooting my flash and had it pointed at the ceiling and was only shooting during the IM (not the backstroke part), fly, and free.

The jury is still out with the AD and the coaches, but I have absolutely no desire to return there to shoot.

Good morning gals!

Welcome to day 2 of winter break!

Yesterday was a lot more eventful than I had planned for, but it was a great day nonetheless.

It was DH's and my 6th anniversary, but since he had to work this week, well, he was at work most of the day.

SIL called to see what we were up to since Dneph was spoiled last week having live-in playmates for the week and wondered if I'd bring DS over to play for a bit. It worked out because I needed to finish up some shopping for Christmas.

DD and I shopped for some White Elephant gifts and grabbed some last minute gift cards, and then my mom called. Evidently I hid my grandparent's tree last year... in plain sight! God love them, they're 96 & 97, but it was my dad that totally missed the tree! The kids had a blast helping decorate the tree but we had to make it a short visit because I needed to get ready for dinner.

DH and I actually celebrated our anniversary a bit early, because we like to go to Colts games. We celebrate during whichever game we want to see, and that was the Colts/Panthers game last month. Either way, we ditched the kids and went to dinner.
