Babnanas 9: Something snappy.....Like BACON!!

Morning all....

I had a horrifying evening....some of you may have seen my FB post. DS10 had a class play last night at the town hall. When it was over, everyone was filing out of the building and as we were heading to our car, suddenly one of DS10's friends was hit by a car...... I heard it happen; he actually saw it. :sad1: The good news is, it doesn't appear to be serious (DS10 said it was the front corner of the vehicle that clipped him and he sort of pushed himself away from it); it happened right in front of the police station (and IN the crosswalk I might add!!!) and an officer was out there in like 2 seconds.....the First Responders were there in less than a minute, and the ambulance in less than 2. They brought out the back board but ended up putting it away, which is a really good sign. Everyone was really shaken up as you can imagine. What an awful, awful thing.

The most moving thing for me personally involved my DS12....he and DS15 were riding bikes right in town so they knew something was up. DS12 walked up to me and asked what had happened.....I was shaking and crying as I told him one of his brother's friends had just been hit....He walked over to me and said "Mom....." and wrapped his arms around me and gave me a huge hug. I just had no words.....:sad1::sad1:

I'm hoping that today the teachers have some word on this boy's condition. What a shake up for the class. I'm sure they'll do something like a big card or draw pictures or something. I'm sure the dad is waking up this morning and thanking God that he still has his son today.

...it's times like these that you KNOW you are raising your son right...

...BTW ~ keep us posted on your DS's friend.

I need to get motivated. I've been running around all morning and now that I am home, I feel lazy. I planned on getting a bunch of stuff done b/c it's my son's 17th b-day and a few people are coming over this evening. Why am I on the computer? Maybe a 2nd cup of coffee will do the trick.

...or 3rd...or 4th....or....

haha exactly

....OMG, I'm positively addicted to

Mornin' peeps. What a CARPY DAY!!! Mean Queen, it doesn't matter where in Maine your dad is going......all of New England is just cold and rotten! He's escaping your heat for sure. I feel like I'm going to FL in the middle of winter, for crying out loud, since I'm looking forward to some warmth!!! :lmao:

So the new lady in the building had a HUGE party over the weekend....not sure what it was about but her guests were arriving all dressed up. Thing is, though, there had to be 30 cars out here (and keep in mind she's in a tiny 1-bedroom!)......We went to town for 15 minutes when people were first starting to arrive (having no clue what was about to happen), and came back to find our parking space taken up. DH ended up texting the landlord, who was out of town but less than thrilled. He tried to call her but she wasn't answering her phone. Gee, wonder why.... He was here at the property yesterday and I noticed this morning that her compost bin is gone. :thumbsup2 I guarantee he made her remove it! It's visible from the road and he hates that kind of clutter. I think this lady is confusing the term "community" (apt. living) with "commune." No, what's mine is not yours for the taking/using, thank you very much.

Last full week of school for the kiddos here!! Busy week, too. Lots going on.....field trips, meetings, plays.

And our trip is inching ever closer. :dance3:

Today was our last day of school. Tuesday, Wednesday and today we got out early. We live in townhouses and have our house #'s painted on our spots. I came home early and the neighbor had a visitor parked in my spot. I watched and when the guest left I shot him a really nasty look and he goes, 'Oh is this your spot?' Me, 'yes.' Him, 'ok I'll be gone in a minute.' As soon as he left I moved my car into my spot. The neighbor lady apologized and said she didn't expect me home so early. I barely controlled myself and told her that if she ever notices her guests parking in someone else's spot she needs to tell them to move right away. If there is one thing that really ticks me off is someone parking in a marked spot. Hello....they are marked for a reason.

No work today.......

::sigh::......

No work for me till the end of August. I will be doing the extended school year but that is only 12 hours a week for 5 weeks. That won't start till the end of June.

 For you and your kids. Is the boy all right?

We had some kids take prescription drugs last Friday. All 5 got taken away in ambulances. No idea how they are.

THANK GOD!!!......DS's friend was released from the hospital last night and already back in school today! He was a bit sore and subdued, but doing alright. DS said that all the kids in his class were saying how worried they were and most of them didn't sleep much last night. That's one loved little boy! :goodvibes I feel like a weight has been lifted off me....I had a hard time concentrating at work today, I was so preoccupied.

Going food shopping.....back later to chat!

Hey girls!!

How the heck have you all been! I see some of you got trips planned and some of you are there.... Still no trips planned for me.. :sad1: But... someday I'll get back.. things have been insane... back and forth to San Francisco two times in the last two months, and trying to keep on top of things. Oh.. and we got another puppy... I welcome the chaos!!

Maybe if I post a little of this.... you'll let me come back..

First of all, Legomom, I am so glad that boy is okay! How scary for your son to witness!

Sadiedog, I can't believe I'm one of the mean ones. I promise if we have a Babnana trip, I'd be a Southern Belle.

daisyyy: I was thinking of you today as I was driving home. Good to see you!

By the way, I'm home, and apparently we move our offices next week!

Boo goes to the orthopedist tomorrow.

And I need some sleep. Badly.

SadieDog I might be having a quick meet with her in a few weeks, and if I do I'll vouch for whether or not she's a Southern belle! :rotfl:

You're gonna tell on me, aren't you?!?

LOL, maybe I should get Mean Queen to vouch for me. She's at least spoken to me on the phone.

Oh, btw, by the evening yesterday when we came back, Legomom, the crowds were down considerably. Just thought you'd like to know.

Hey, MEAN QUEEN, what information can you give me about doing a Thanksgiving cruise? We are thinking of doing one in 2013. For instance, what is the charge for parking the car for the time we are there?

I'm addicted to this too! I've been making iced coffee at home with my Keurig. Poor Starbucks won't know what to do with this loss in profit.

Glad the boy is ok! That had to be so scary for the kids to see and for the boy to go through.

AMANDA!!!! We are thinking of doing the 2013 Thanksgiving cruise because we love cruising on Thanksgiving so much. The parking for a 7 night is currently $120. I know some people will stay in a nearby hotel the night before and get cheaper parking but I'm not sure of all the details. We like being able to leave at our own rate (as in the last possible minute) so we don't take Disney transportation or any other shuttle buses that require me to be off any earlier than I want.

The things I love about cruising on Thanksgiving (I'm assuming you mean Disney because that's all I know) - the Christmas decorations are up on board, I don't have to cook on Thanksgiving, I order 2 lobsters instead of turkey but I try to have turkey at lunch, no family drama, we get to be a family, we get time as a couple, the kids have a great time, Castaway Cay is decorated for Christmas, Mickey and Minnie dress in their holiday finest (both for Thanksgiving as Pilgrims and for Christmas photos.)

The things I don't love about cruising on Thanksgiving - no Macy's day parade. So, the thing I don't love. That's it.

Look at my November 2011 Facebook album to see all the fun things we did! And the next Thanksgiving cruise will be on the Fantasy!

Odds are we'd have to stay somewhere the night before, but chances are, we'd stay like in Jacksonville or Daytona. Or we might do St. Augustine to throw in some history.

Dan really does not want to go back to Disney any time soon (boo, hiss), but I think planning this far ahead could be affordable, would keep us away from family drama (which is all too rampant), and we don't have to cook. I'll hop over to FB.

Thanks!

We are toying around with DVC again. We are thinking of waiting until Grand Floridian sells.

You are always welcome back! Sounds crazy with all that travel. Though you could be going to worse places than San Fran.

Amanda - DVC is always a great option! Though I don't plan to use it to pay for a cruise again. It was not the best use of our points. I would have done better to rent my points for money and use that to pay for the cruise. We aren't sure if we'll add on at GF, but I do love owning on the monorail.

Yeah, crowd levels on "the" site dropped to 6's for the rest of the week!! I'm actually considering going on the Thursday of our trip instead....the MK level is a 4.6 for that day!!! It has a.m. EMH that day, but not a big deal. And it's "only" open until 10pm that day but really, I have to ask myself, if we stick with Monday, are we going to even make it until midnight, especially if we've been fighting mega-crowds in the heat all day??

Wow, you guys dream big. If I could buy DVC today, it'd be at OKW. And my dream DVC buy-in would be POR.

I can vouch for her being a true Southern belle. :thumbsup2

Kimmar - nice! Your DH should be proud, he did a great job. What is that green stuff all over the ground? It seems to resemble the brown stuff we call grass here, but it's much nicer.

LM - OKW would be a good one to own. The rooms are the biggest and you can usually get a reservation.

kimmar - beautiful yard!! Looks like a nice little neighborhood too. Your DH done good! :thumbsup2
