It looks like it may officially be the beginning of the end for my dad. I went Thursday night at dinner time. He looked bad, but, did sit up briefly. He was in pain and we are not sure if it is his heart or that he may have cracked a rib. He got out of bed last week during the night and they found him on the floor. No one is sure what happened there.

My mom called me before 7 am yesterday and said she was too sick to go in. Thankfully I had off. He didn't wake for me either time I went in. Two nurses said they didn't think he would make it through the weekend.

This morning I called the nursing home and he's on oxygen. Then I called my mom and told her. She is tired but sounded better. She's not coming in at lunch time. I'll see her after I see my dad. My sister lives 5 hours away and is reluctant to come down. She has spent so much time down here already. I talked to her this morning and told her that I would talk to here at lunch time when I see dad.

I just pray he doesn't die on Easter. Talk about major irony. The man who doesn't go to church dies on Easter. He could never get things right. Yes, I have a very sick sense of humor. My sister is planning on coming down on Monday. Everything is falling into place. I had off on Friday and the ex-hubby was kind enough to switch around pick up times with DD. I can deal with all of this without DD.

My mom had changed her mind and had come with me last night. We were there only from 5 to 6 p.m. She was a little shocked about how he had looked. When we left, she just left the room. She did not even say goodbye to him.

7:06 pm I got the call from my mother. My dad passed away. We went back in and she said her goodbyes.
