We've officially started stockpiling diapers for baby #2. :cool1:

I noticed in Toys r Us' BF ad that they have boxes of BRU brand diapers on sale for $10. That's a GREAT price. There's a TRU quite close to us & I have a couple other items that I want to pick up so I figured I'd just head up at 9 p.m. on Thursday & grab a few boxes of diapers while I was there.

But I'm wondering about the quality of the diapers. Anyone use them? I don't want to have a stack of 400-some diapers that I hate using.

We use them for DD. She is 23 months old. I love them. They don't leak. I don't have issues with the tabs ripping like I have some. DD doesn't have any reactions to them. Also, I love their supreme wipes.

Any other questions about them?

Go into the mother's room at a Toys R Us or Babies R Us store. They typically will have samples at the changing table of their own brand so you can check them out!

I found the best generic brand of diapers to be Target. I used the Pampers swaddlers while DS was a newborn. Then switched to Target brand without any problems.

Have you used other brands? If so, what would you compare them to? I used a lot of different brands on DD and really, REALLY disliked the rough, papery feeling of Walmart's brand diapers.

I have. We started with Pampers Swaddlers, which I loved but didn't love the price. Then I switched to Target brand. They were good then changed the way they made them. She had a reaction to them. They also raised the price and put less diapers in them. We then went to Walmart brand but didn't like them at all. Bought only one package. I think that Huggies are rough so we don't buy those. I would be willing to go back to Pampers if DD didn't like the Babies R Us brand but they are cheaper and she likes them. They also frequently have them on sale.

I tried the BRU brand and really hated them personally, I found them very rough and papery and not absorbent. I probably tried them 18 months ago or so , so it is possible that they've changed but IME they were a waste of money, I donated them to a shelter.

Thankfully, my little ones are out of diapers, but from 2003-2009 we tried EVERY brand out there, and we liked these just fine.

The truth is, if you're looking for top-of-the line, you won't like these, they don't compare to pampers... but they ARE good, and the prices are great, even better on black Friday. It helps if you do a unit price comparison... my husband liked the way that pampers "smell" when you first open the package... but in the end, the purpose of a diaper is to catch things that smell bad, and no matter what brand you buy, it's not going to smell pretty about an hour after you put it on your little one. So I explained to him that that smell he liked cost an extra $.XX per diaper, and an extra $XX per week that could be going to things like a college fund.

When we used these, they never leaked, never tore, and were find for their purpose. The texture wasn't always "cotton", but it was only "cardboard" once, and they changed it back immediately. They weren't as spiffy as pampers, but they were fine. If you look in my attic, you will see dozens of old "Especially for baby" diaper boxes, because we used that many cases of them... then reused the boxes for storage. If you're concerned about the texture/quality, if there aren't any samples in the mother's room, consider buying one of the smallest packs they have before BF, and see for yourself, however, I did notice that there were differences by size, sometimes... (like the Mediums might be different in style/texture than the smalls) I think this was due to the different sizes selling at different rates, so whenever they "tweaked" the designs, the "old" style would run out sooner in certain sizes.

I used to buy them several cases at a time when they would go on sale, and I was surprised the years I went on black Friday at about 10am and they hadn't run out at our BRU, and the store was just-- silent--... but TRU tends to run out. But unless you're planning to be there anyway, DON'T GO to TRU on Thursday night. Thursday night at 7pm, your local TRU will have a line around the building, which will be there until at least 1030pm... not worth 3 hours of your life for discount diapers. :) If you only want the diaper deal, try a Babies R Us, if you can find one... just my two cents...

I love using the TRU brand diapers. They don't cost a lot and they work great. I use to be a Luvs person until I found out that I could get more for a cheaper price. They don't leak and they work better than some other store brand diapers. I also use the diapers from Dollar General. Those diapers work great too. :goodvibes
