I just found out I'm pregnant with our first baby... I would LOVE to go to MNSSHP next year, but I'm worried that our little one will be too young. I'm due in May, so by the end of October, s/he will be 5, almost 6, months old.

What do you all think about taking a baby this young to WDW for the first time? Or should we wait and go the Summer of 2007?

We went when DS was 6 months old and it was fine! We were there in the 1st week of December and went to the MVMCP. He was actually very easy to handle-he wasn't old enough to get up and run away!! (Just don't go off and leave his bottle in the room like we did!! We were able to buy one at the Poly, he just wasn't real happy w/ it b/c it was different than his! :earseek: )

First of all congratulations!!!!!! :flower: Second of all, we brought our DD on her first cruise when she was 5 months old so my response is NO I don't think your baby will be too young. All they do is sleep, poop and eat! Carry on with your vacation plans as normal and good luck to you both!!!

We took my nephew when he was about 11 months old. He had a blast looking around at everything and just being around his family.

Actually, you're better off taking him/her as a baby in October than as a todler in the summer. Summers are HOT HOT HOT and humid like you would NOT believe! Trust me, go in October!!!

This is my first post here. We took my DD (who is 10.5m) to WDW at 3 months. It was fine. The only "issue" I had was I was nursing so I would have to leave my DH, DS and ILs and go nurse and then rejoin them. However, since I never knew how long it would be it was difficult to coordinate.

CONGRATS!!!!! That's great news!!!!

Don't think of going on TOO many rides in the dark when you go (if any), but definitely consider baby swaps! Good luck!!

I say do it, but just be prepared to stop on a dime to take care of his/her needs, which may include leaving the parks for a while or even the whole day. We are going back in May and our new SON!!! (sorry, just found out yesterday) will be about two months old. I know many think we are nuts, but we will plan our trip around our kids and have a blast no matter what. We took our son this May and he was not quite two, we had a great time (aside from getting sick :guilty: ) and he actually remembers a lot of it. Go and have a great time, just plan to take it slow.

ETA- Congratulations!

We traveled with my little guy a lot when he was around that age. I was nursing, and I found that made it so easy - no bottles or formula to worry about, much less stuff to lug around, and I could feed him anytime anywhere! I nursed him on park benches, in restaurants, on rides, in shows - absolutely anywhere we happened to be when he needed to nurse. I even carried him in the sling and I could just nurse him as we were walking around. I never even got so much as odd look. Now, he's two years old, and I look back fondly on how easy it was to travel with him as a baby! :rotfl: I say go and have a good time!

Oh, and another good thing - you can take a baby on any ride that doesn't have a height requirement. They just ride in your lap. At that age, dark rides, etc. don't bother them because they don't know enough yet to be scared of the dark or the characters or anything else.

If you plan to go, be flexible. You won't know until the baby is born about how well he/she travels, eats, deals with crowds. Make sure you can change your plans if the baby is not ready to travel. We were scheduled to go in Nov. 2004, but the baby, then 8mo, was not able to travel, so we pushed it back and are now looking at Oct 2006.

We took our daughter when she was 10 months old and she did great. She was dressed as Minnie and hung out in her stroller the whole night. We only stayed until 8:30 p.m., but we all had a great time.

I say do it!!! Both my girls went very young, My first DD4 went when she was 9 months, It was a great trip!!! My secound DD went when she was 3 1/2 months old then again at 7 months, both trips were great......Just make sure you have all you need like clothes food diapers and anything that will make your baby comfortable, and enjoy!!!!Those are the best trips cause they are still small and they nap often!!

We took our daughter to DL at 5 months and it was great. She loved the rides, parades, and just looking at all the people. She was normally a difficult baby but at DL, she was great. We didn't take any afternoon breaks because she just slept in the stroller. We really didn't find it difficult at all. But then again, she was our fourth child, so we were used to traveling with kids.

As long as you are flexible and prepared to change plans if needed, you should have a great time. And it will definitely be easier than a 1-2 yr old.

Took a 4 mo old and even with my 4 year old and special needs 9 year old, it was one of our easiest trips. Eat and sleep anywhere, rode all the rides except those with heigh restrictions. Went again at 10 mos and 14 mos.

ESPECIALLY since you are talking October, a great weather time of year. :earsboy: :earsboy: :earsgirl:

PS CONGRATS on the new mousketeer !

Congratulations!!! Our little guy went for the first time when he was 6 months. We had a great time. They sleep in their strollers a lot at that age. Honestly, we had a lot more trouble with our 2 y/o toddler at Disney than our 6 month old! :)

Just hire a nanny. No one will start a seven page thread to flame you or anything. :rotfl2:

(sorry, couldn't resist)

Enjoy your new baby and your vacation - your only problem will be deciding which adorable Halloween costume you will choose!!!!

I just had my baby girl on May 21 and when we get ready to go to Disney she will be turning 6months and i have a 2 1/2 yr old daughter too we will be leaving in december on the 15 we are taking the train . Enjoy your vacation pick out a cute disney outfit for october lol take plenty of pics

Congratulations! Personally, i would not like to go to WDW with a 6month old, but there isn't any physical reason not to do it. October is a lovely month, not too hot for baby. If you're game, then do it! And have a great time :cool1:

The baby can be pushed in a stroller, and will probably be easier to look after than my 4 year old son. :rotfl:

I would say the trip is more for yourselves, the baby won't enjoy as much, but isn't too young too take.

p.s. I go to school in Columbus!
