I just realized I might have royally screwed up our ADRs for our trip in 2!!! weeks. I didn't include the baby in our headcount when making reservations. He just sits in our laps 95% of the time at a restaurant so I figured he would do the same while on vacation. Should I have included him in the count? Do I need to try to get all new ADRs?

Yes, babies are people and do count. It's less about who is eating, and more about fire codes and table sizes.

I'd call and see if they can adjust your ADRs up to the new number, just explain to them what happened. If they can't, I'd just show up and do the same. They're typically pretty used to that sort of thing.

Do note that there is a possibility that you could be told no, have a backup plan in that case (I'd suggest having someone, not the baby :p, go to a nearby less busy restaurant).

I learned this the hard way...babies DO count.

I booked my initial ADRs without him...when I found out the rules, I called them and spoke with a CM who told me I was basically out of luck. She then proceeded to cancel all of our existing ADRs and try to rebook with our son. I lost at least 2 of our meals and had to eat elsewhere. :sad2:

Well, darn! I'm going to call and see what they can do. We've got grandma along with us so worst case, she can watch him for the harder to get ADRs. I've spent months scouting out the perfect ADR schedule and now I feel foolish.

ETA: Woohoo!! I was able to get them all modified! Even Chef Mickeys. Phew! I am so relieved. Glad I figured this out now instead of standing in front of the restaurant with 2 excited kids only to be turned away.

Don't feel foolish!! It's just an adjustment...as you said, he will sit on your lap and not eat. It seems as if you shouldn't count him!!

I am a planning freak. I live to plan Disney trips...and I did it too :upsidedow

Glad to hear you had better luck than I on the adjustment!!! WTG!!!!!

Great to hear! I'm sure this is FAR from an uncommon issue they have :)
