We are considering in the very tentative stages of blowing the budget and flying this way on our next trip.
I just need to check I know the seats are like little beds etc etc but for me and hubby who want to sit together as I am a nervous flyer and need to hold/break his hand during take off and landing is this possible are any seats together?

We have flown Virgin UC (and will do so again next week :) )

No you cannot sit and hold hands - the seats are too far apart (take a look at the Virgin web site and you can see the plane layout).

The seat is in 2 parts - there is the main seat area which reclines and flips over to make the bed and then there is the foot stool which is like a small seat. For meals you can have one person sit on the main seat and the other on the foot stool with the table (about 2ft 6in square) between you. The cabin crew suggested we did this on our last trip- you even get a linen table cloth and proper crockery/cutlery so it's like eating in a small restuarant together.

I don't know if the rules allow you to sit together for take off or landing. I seem to remember we had to put the table away and be in our own seats at those times but you could always call Virgin to ask.

this is what upper class looks like. As you can see unless you hold hands over the little wall (which i suspect is possible) you dont physically sit next to your partner.

and here is what your dinner table looks like.....

I have flown Virgin Upper Class with my Mum a couple of times, it is not easy to have a good conversation with each other without one of you straining your neck or one of you moving. As you are a nervous flyer, I would suggest saving some money and flying Premium Economy, food is the same as Economy but you get bigger seats and can sit right next to each other, it's always the way we fly now. Upper Class is great if you want better food, you like to try to sleep on the bed, or want to spread out and work by yourself...but otherwise...

You can sit together with BA's Club World. The window and aisle seat next to it are facing each other and so whilst holding hands might be a problem (there is a divider which must be up for take off and landing) eye contact and conversation aren't. In the centre, the middle 2 of the 4 seats are side by side and would probably suit you.

The biggest problem however is that you can only select your seats at online check-in and both Club World and World Traveller Plus (BA's PE) are only small sections on the Orlando route. Therefore you may not be able to get the seats you want.

BA's gold card holders and families with young children have already been assigned and so online check-ins often have slim pickings.

Food is better in PE than Economy in my opinion...

UC isn't particularly conducive to conversations with a partner, but there is the small footstall/seat which can be used once up in the air - you can't sit on the seat during take-off/landing.

We have flown Club Class with BA....we loved we had the kids it was no problem we could have converstations as you face on another in the seats....
