Just booked or flight back to our 2nd home with BA this is the first time I have flown with them can any one tell me what to expect and how good is the entertainment for Children as I have a DS of 11 and I can not stand 9 hrs of "are we there yet" :thumbsup2

We used BA in October when we went and found it to be reasonably good.

There was a good list of movies and even the food wasn't that bad compared to some other airlines.

I usually find taking a bundle of magazines (or comics) also helps to pass the time.

We have flown both Virgin and BA and both are the same for seat sizes, comfort and food.

Entertainment is another matter though even though both have seatback screens. Virgin tends to cater more for kids with dedicated kids channels.

As your son is 11 he will most probably be fine with the main movies as I am sure my son at that age would not be seen dead watching kids channels.

If he has a portable game player that should keep him happy, but if not buy one of the cheap ones that only play one game and that will keep him busy if you give it to him only as you board the plane.

Got a Dr Who one for my cousin's 11 year old for Xmas and he said it was best present he got. It only cost £9.99.

We always fly BA, DH is a BA a fan and travels for work alot, so we alway s
have miles to use.

Our DD is 6. She is used to flying, I always take a back pack of things to entertain her. I would say that there is normally only a few films for young ones but the cabin crew are great with children. They get their meals served first - which is great. There's nothing worse than the trolleys slowly coming up the isle and you child asking, 'how long til we get ours?'

We have not flown virgin, although I do fancy trying them out, I'm not sure I can persude DH lol.

I would also suggest having a good look around the BA website, they list entertainment etc for each season, so you can make a judgement and there's lots of us on here who fly BA.

We always fly BA and our kids are old hands at long haul at this stage. They've been to the States 6 or 7 times and they are aged 7 and 11.

We've always found them great with kids and on flights to Orlando, kids outnumber adults anyway so the cabin crew will have seen it all kids wise :rotfl:

We're off in May. Can't wait.

Major saving for the trip going on at this end *grooooooooooooan*

Hi Carla,
Is it a direct flight? They don't do a direct flight from Manchester?
Its a while since I flew with BA... but was ok then!
We flew indirectly with US airways at Chritmas and they were fine. Quite enjoyed the break at Philly for a change!!
My DS was always saying 'are we there yet'!!!
:rotfl: :rotfl:
He's grown out of it now!!
