In Georgia, the kids are out from the last week of May through the first week of August. Somehow it never seems to be long enough!

Colleges are out in mid May usually and the schools within the follwoing 2 weeks

We get out May 25 and go back August 8. A general answer to your question would be - the earlier in June, the less crowded (though still busy).
