This will be my first cruise so I don't know any details of what exactly happens and when.

Some of the Disney things, like the Sail Away Deck Party, Pirate Night, will be available to see on the website when you are able to start booking your excursions, it will also list times.

Some of the DIS only things will (should) have dates/times posted here, but this is a busy cruise (not many sea days, long port days) so not much time for DIS activities.

I got the time for "all aboard" from the cruise itinerary on DCL site. Cruise lines also have a mandatory safety drill on the day of embarkation, but the time of that will depend on what time all aboard really is....

Guess we'll all have to wait until we get or cruise docs in the mail.

I called Vistaprint and with their help, established an account that has the map image stored, with "excellent resolution". Anyone can access it and use it to order shirts and any other product you might want. We can also use this account to save other images. Let me know if you need me to resize my image should you want to use it for something other then a tee shirt order.

I have read that Herculaneum is smaller and less busy. It is closer too.
I am actually going to Herculaneum instead of Pompeii because I am not sure how my knee will hold up after the other days.

I imagine this is posted somewhere, and if anyone knows, just point me that way. We are thinking that we will fly in on Friday am and I don't know how to find a place to stay, where to stay etc, and how to get to the ship. Anyone have experience with this? Also there is a flight that leaves from Barcelona on debarkation at 1045am. Is there enough time to get back to the airport upon debarkation? Thanks in advance. I have never been out of the country...lots of Disney cruises, but this will be a first for me!! Can't wait!

There are tons of hotels in Barcelona, some are quite expensive, though. All you need to do is google hotels barcelona and you should come up with quite a list.

As far as transportation, last time we were there and stayed, we took taxis both to the hotel and to the port - they are very plentiful there and pretty reasonable - there were 2 adults and 2 kids and we didn't have any issues at all getting around.

According to our itinerary, all ashore is at 7 AM, so you should have ample time to make it to the airport.

If not for the fact that my girls have read about Pompeii and are itching to go there, I'd chose Herculaneum over Pompeii. I've read that you can really get a lot more out of it since it's less busy and closer. Enjoy!

I can't answer your question, but they have a few places where you may be able to store your luggage if desperate. There is a charge but I think it is very reasonable.

My girls turn nine the day after we get off. I don't think it takes very long to hike up, if you're only doing Pompeii for the day you should have plenty of time.
