Is there a food court at AKL or is it just the sit down resturants and do they have refillable mugs?

Mara is the "food court" and it has some really good food. Try the pretzel bread chicken sandwich. I can't wait to have another. And, yes, they have refillable mugs. Mara is right by the pool which is great!!

Mara is awesome. I am still dreaming of the African Stew served in a bread bowl and the delish South African chardonnay I had there! they have the usual fare plus a few exotic items. I have not been to every "food court/counter service" restaurant on property, but so far, Mara is my favorite!

Mara is pretty good. Only ate there 3 times when I stayed at the lodge. Tried the African Salad - yuck! And I'm a real salad person so I was surprised I didn't like it. It actually tasted more like old Chinese food! I tried the fish and chips - delicious! And I had breakfast there once - eggs, bacon, french toast - pretty standard the same as any of the resort cafeterias. However I did find the refillable mug station very simple there as well as a good selection of small snack foods including fresh chocolate delectables and fruit cups and cheese plates.

We liked Mara when we were there. The African stew was very good. In fact we got the recipe and have made it at home.
They also have the zebra domes there that you can buy... yummy...
We thought they had some good offerings and we enjoyed it there.

We stayed at AKL two years ago and found the food at Mara to be quite good. Generous portions too (at least, at breakfast!).
