After reading this board for years, we have finally booked our first ABD!! The Grand Cyn (AZ/Utah) trip from May 30 to June 6. We live in LA and have a 14 yr old son. Anyone else on this adventure?

Yay!! You are going in nearly the same timeframe we did two years ago. I hope you will share your thoughts on it because I would love to read about how the changes in the itinerary work out.

Congrats! Hope you enjoy your trip and report back when you return :)

Gladly! How did that time of year work out for you? I didn't want it to be too hot. How has the itinerary changed?

Our weather was perfect. When we left the Grand Canyon, it was cool in the morning so we were wearing jeans. By the time we arrived in Monument Valley, it was warm. We didn't change out of our jeans, but we left our jackets on the bus.

Based on what I read on the ABD website, there is now an overnight in Monument Valley (which I would love) but one less night in Moab.

I hadn't noticed that! A night at Gouldings! That sounds very cool! It looks like the only thing you're losing is the first session of activities provided by the Red Cliffs Lodge. It was a long day going from the Grand Canyon to Moab. That could be a nice change.
