Hello All!

This is my first attempt at a dining review, so please excuse my newb if it shows!

So I just returned from a 10 day trip with my sis, nephew 8 and niece 14 while staying at Coronado Springs for free dining. Let me just say...I had a great time!

So, the reason for my title...my sis and her kids don't eat anything they would label 'different'...nada...if it sounds unusual, keep it away from them. They don't eat onions, they don't eat tomatoes (unless in ketchup or spaghetti form) and my niece won't eat anything with a bone in it!

I of course was in charge of making the ADRs for this trip...so taking into consideration all of the limitations, it was rather interesting to get anything past their vote. Finally, I convinced my niece that I would cut any and all meats from a bone for her and got a few things that would be kid and teenager friendly.

So, here's the lineup for TS:

Whispering Canyon - Dinner
Le Cellier - Lunch
1900 Park Fair - Dinner
Cape May Cafe - Dinner
Crystal Palace - Dinner
Teppan Edo - Dinner
Hollywood & Vine - Fantasmic Dinner
Hoop Dee Doo - Dinner
Plaza Restaurant - MK Lunch

And the CS:
Pepper Market
Lotus Blossom Cafe
Yak & Yeti CS
Backlot Express
Cosmic Rays
Casey's Corner

So, we basically stuck to my plans, except that my sis and nephew slept through our first ADR at Whispering Canyon...so that's why we have an extra one at Plaza Restaurant at the end.

Pics to come!

We were exhausted!

The first flight out of Newark on JetBlue to Orlando...never again! We were barely awake enough to realize that we arrived at the airport and my husband had to encourage me to get out of the car. Since being married this May, this was to be the first time we spent even one night away from each other (and we both decided that it would be the last...hehe).

As expected, our room wasn't ready, so we headed for Pepper Market for lunch. The card and stamp process was quickly explained to us and we went out to explore our options...we were handed a menu to review but thought that looking around would be better than reading :)

My niece and I decided on the Beef Burrito, hers without beans...oh yeah, neither kid eats any form of beans. It was very good and basically became a favorite item for her for the rest of the week.

It had strips of beef in a red sauce, rice, beans and wrapped in a tortilla, topped with a not really spicy at all ranchero sauce and topped with shredded cheese and cheese sauce

My sis had the Steak Ranchero, a bed of rice and beans, topped with strips of steak and sauteed onions and peppers (yeah, she forgot to ask for no onions so they were left in a pile later) :lmao: She liked the meal and said that it would have been better to be served with some hot sauce.

My nephew had the child's pizza meal with chips, milk, orange and a cookie for dessert. He enjoyed it...but he always enjoys pizza.

For dessert, we split a few, strawberry shortcake, flan and churros. I liked the strawberry shortcake very much as it tasted very fresh...my sis said the flan was okay, and well churros are churros.

Great start on the food review...looking forward to hearing how you managed to juggle all of the food dislikes of your family! Count me in.

Great start! This should be interesting with the picky eaters you had to contend with. I can't wait for more :thumbsup2

Great start!

I know all too well about dealing with picky eaters so I look foward to hearing how your dining choices worked out.

I wouldn't be able to handle myself with picky eaters like that for that long! Kudos to you for being able to do so.

I'm in! I love reading dining reviews! With all of those limitations on what your family would eat, I'm looking forward to seeing how you handled it!

Well lucky for me, Disney menus usually have something that my Sis and her kids can eat!

Well after a long day of traveling and the intense heat we were subject to while wandering around the Marketplace...we were pooped. Our ADR for Whispering Canyon was fast approaching and only me and my niece were actually awake enough to be hungry. While my sister and nephew slept, my niece and I hopped into a cab (too tired to take buses and deal with transfers) and set forth to stuff ourselves silly.

After checking in at the kiosk, we were given a buzzer thingy to alert us to when our table would be available. Instead of sitting around we decided to do a bit of shopping. Well, that didn't quite work out....as soon as we stepped foot into the store, it went off! Excited by the smells we just experienced earlier, we quickly returned...only to be disappointed.

We were sat way way way in the back...not even in the main room! We ended up in a little area that had 8 tables that weren't even the same style as the main restaurant. It basically looked like a porch...overlooking the DVC sales guy. When I asked if there was anything available in the main hall, I was told I'd have to wait until something opened up. Because we didn't want to wait...we accepted our fate (although most of the other families that were lead to this area after us just turned around and went back to wait for something else). In attempt to make our table in the outer limits better, I told my niece, at least we can order ketchup in peace!

I convinced my niece that she would like a few things on the skillet and that I would de-bone anything that it came with. And although our DDP wasn't the one that included appetizers, I thought that I could use a few chips, so we went with the Queso.

After bread service we were given a dish of salad to share. My niece turned up her nose immediately, after trying it, I told her that it was very good and that I would make sure there were no onions on her plate. She love it! It was very crisp and the dressing, although I can't remember the flavor, I remember being very good. (sorry, no pic).

The Queso was yummy, and the chips were good, I was craving something salty and it definitely delievered!

The skillet arrived and boy were we shocked at how much meat was on it! The pulled pork and the mashed potatoes was all that she thought she wanted to eat...but after I convinced her to taste the brisket...she would have put a fork in my hand had I tried to take a piece! The ribs were good, not wonderfully great...and the pulled pork was very yummy. I will say that the corn was soggy like it was sitting in butter for a long, long while. We didn't eat the chicken...there was too much food. I had the beans and enjoyed those very much.

I honestly don't remember dessert, and apparently didn't remember to take a photo either.

I did though, take a photo of my niece...her name is Tia...this is her when she's full! LOL

After her mom saw this...she laughed for a while. Tia's only response...I don't care! It was good!

More to come!

Can't wait to read more. I'm loving the pictures of the food. Everything looks so yummy.

great start. I think where you sit and who your server is at WCC can make a difference in your experience. Both times we ate there we wished we were one section over as those diners where having a great time with their servers antics and we had a ho hum waiter . We enjoyed the food though. Looking forward to more reviews. Gkad you had a magical trip.

So it's time for Le Cellier. It's the first time there for all of us and I know that steak is something that will sit well with everyone, except for my nephew, who will proudly exclaim "that's the wrong recipe!" when he doesn't like something.

So, we all decide on having the signature dish, Le Cellier Mushroom Filet Mignon even though my niece wasn't too sure that risotto was something she would like her rice to be called...lol. We also added on the cheese soup to start.

The soup was very good, not too too rich for me, and I must say it was great to dip with the pretzel breads. Even Jayden, my nephew loved the soup and bread...all to our surprise!

I ordered the cup of soup for myself:

My sister and Tia shared a bowl of soup:

For entree, Jayden had the child pizza and didn't complain:

Me, sis and Tia all had the mushroom filet (it looks kinda small in the giant plate that it was served in...but it was filling) My niece did not care for the risotto, I think she got it into her head before she ordered it that she wouldn't. Sis, Kelly and I ate it all up.:

For Dessert:

Jayden's child make your own sunday:

Tia's Chocolate Whiskey Cake, she asked if it would make her drunk:

Kelly's Smores. Great presentation, Jayden quickly took the marshmellows on top for his own! I wanted to take a try and then realized that the sauces on the bottom looked suspicious and asked the server if there was mango. She said she didn't think so but then told me she'd ask. Yes...there is mango sauce...I'm allergic so no tasting for me :(

And my dessert! I had the Chocolate 'Moose' I liked it lots!
Here's a pic right side up:

All in all, we enjoyed our lunch, and walked away feeling not overly full but satisfied!

Until later!

Great reviews so far - we love the csr but are a bit scared about the new breakfasts at Maya Grill. Never had a meal that looked as good as yours did at the Pepper Market and last year we could only have pastries or cookies for dessert as ddp so the improved choice looked good too.

DD was especially keen to see the kids dessert at Le Cellier - our first trip to that restaurant this time around.

Can't wait for more :)

Enjoying your report :goodvibes

You made the 6AM flight out of Newark???!!! I'm impressed!:worship:
I've looked at it often and never had the guts to try it so I'm usually on the 11AM :rotfl:

Well today was Animal Kingdom Day...and try as I might, there was no way I was going to get them to eat a TS here. I went to Tusker House two years ago with them and it was a bust. There was too much unusual foods for them to eat anything...and by that time in the trip they were tired of Disney green beans (I think they serve green beans with every meal in WDW...lol).

Three of us in the party are very fond of Flame Tree BBQ...all except Tia, she's terrified of the birds that hang out in the seating areas and that there is meat on bones!

Bit of a back story...she was 4, on Jones Beach and eating a hot dog. Apparently, the hot dog looked very appealing to a seagull in the sky and it swooped down and stole it from her hand. Since then, my entire family has to chase away birds because apparently they are going to swoop down and take her away. We keep telling her, she's too big to be taken by a duck...but it doesn't work :rotfl:

To great delight to Tia, Flame Tree was closed...the rest of us were sad:

So now what??? It was my chance to get them to eat something...I secretly guarded the fact that Pizzafari exists...telling them that the only other place I knew of was Yak & Yeti counter service. I'm so evil :rotfl2:

After realizing that basically, the menu resembled Chinese food they can find at home, they agreed! Unfortunately, I was on bird duty so I didn't get very good photos of the actual food...there was this one duck that decided our table was a wonderful place to hang out. Jayden tried to reason with the duck and told it his sister was scared, but it didn't matter. It's the Aunt's job to keep the birds away and this duck was going to make sure I worked hard that day!

We ordered the Honey Chicken, Sweet and Sour Chicken, Kung Pao Beef and Jayden had a cheeseburger. I was not impressed. It was basically a container that was layered with rice at the bottom, a few veggies, chicken nuggets (although not overly processed like McDonalds) and then sauce on top). The only difference between the chicken dishes was the sauce on top. Kelly said the Beef dish didn't taste like something she'd order again...eh...at least I tried.

The highlight was the frozen lemonade that we had as dessert.

I should have gotten a photo of the duck....

Just caught up. Great reviews so far and I am looking forward to hearing more :)
