Well--my nausea is worse with each pregnancy and this time turned into hyperemesis with me not being able to leave my bed unless I reallly really really really had to for 6 weeks or so. (and on some days, I couldn't move even if I really really really had to.)
I will say this too shall pass, but that isn't always the case.
I'd offer remedies, but they don't always work. (i.e. preggy pops--had them a lot last pregnancy and they were helpful. This time, they were downright nasty.)
I even get sick through the suggested meds.
So what worked for me was dying in peace in my bed while my house got destroyed by my kids. I did end up hiring a nanny for 2 weeks and that saved the kid's sanity.
The only other thing--do whatever it takes to eat something and drink something. For a couple of weeks--all I could eat was plain enteman's donuts. I got to the point where OB was telling me to eat whatever stays down. I would eat about 800-1000 calories worth and then tried to hold off getting sick so that some of those calories would stay in.
This pregnancy is the first time that I ever lost weight due to my illness. I lost 12 pounds and the % met the criteria for hyperemisis. Anyway--I lost weight despite all those donuts.
Doing well now--I do get sick on occasion--but leaps and bounds better than before. I tapered off about a month ago after I was into my 2nd trimester.
My only other thing that was "helpful"--I didn't take my prenatals. I had/have a sensitive gag reflex and those puppies were going to come up--so with OB blessing, I didn't have to take them.
