DS8 in 3rd grade came home with an envelope. It was in his mailbox at the end of the day. He assumed it was from his teacher. He asked to open it, and since it wasn't addressed to "the parents of..." He opened it.

I just asked him what the letter was. It seems a boy in his class had hurt his feelings by singing a song that had the words "Dan pooped his pants." The letter was from the boy apologizing for hurting his feelings and wanting to know if they could be friends again. He included some baseball cards. DS wrote back he does want to be friends again, and thanked him for the letter and the cards.

All the torment I went through as a kid, I never got an apology letter. I am impressed with this kid. Maybe his parents put him up to it, if so, kudos to them. (I don't know if they would of been notified for something like that). Definite kudos to the young man who hurt someone's feelings, and took responsibilty for it. There is hope yet for this generation coming up, I tell you! LOL

PS...before anyone goes on about "my special snowflake" getting his feelings hurt, I am just repeating what my son said to me just now. I did not even know this had happened. So it is not like I was looking for an apology to my son. If he had come home and complained, I would of told him to "get over it." basically. LOL

That is really wonderful... and I am glad your son forgave him too!

It is great to see parents teach their children to take responsibility for their actions.

That is wonderful!! I work in an elementary school and kids can be SO mean at such an early age.
I have noticed lately however how SOME of these kids have really learned to be kind to each other. If some one falls and gets hurt..the kids run over and help them up...truly care and look out for each other.

I am happy your son has a friend that cares!!

That's wonderful! Kids can be so mean sometimes without even realizing it. It's good that he understood that his actions were wrong and took the time to apologize to your son.

That's wonderful. :) Thanks for sharing. We had a good note day here, too. It feels great, doesn't it? :goodvibes

Thanks for the warm fuzzy!

I'm a high school teacher and once had a student write me an apology letter for behavior in class, I was floored. I called his parents to tell them about and they were as shocked as I was. Gestures like that are so uncommon!
