Avoiding the Christmas Parade

I thought they used two, maybe three days for the taping.

Never thought about the rerouted stuff. Not the special moment I was looking for. We have been there and the walking behind the shops stuff, not the reason I wanted an early ADR . Guess we will wait for another trip for this meal.

Learned something new. Didnt know that they confirm dates and things like that I was just going from what i have seen when I have been there. Thats why I'm liking this board, more knowledge the better. Of course the day I saw them taping it was a thursday morning. It was the Rock stage from HS studios that they brought over . I will agree they took many takes for the same verse of song that I witnessed the taping of.

I don't know that Disney officially confirmed it but someone posted that their child's band is in it and that's the date. It's been the first Saturday in December for as long as I can remember, I've been there a few times.

Rail road isn't open at rope drop but probably soon after- you'll need to check. I'm pretty sure they allow ECCS as I saw space for some but when crowded it might still be difficult.
If gma stays after dark make sure she has plenty of glow stuff ( can buy ahead target etc glow necklaces flashlights etc) put on front and back ECV and for you it helps in crowds- I noticed at memories near castle how much better it was for ecvs with lights or glow stuff.

Thanks all! I can't say I'm thrilled that my MK walk through may be interrupted but it makes me feel better that people have done it and it's not as bad as I'm dreading.

Good tip on taking the train! I probably would have just followed the crowds

Does anyone know what time they start taping? We have 8:15 ADR for CP on Nov 30 and was hoping not to share main street with several hundred people.

The taping on the 30th will be largely stage acts and b-roll. Not the parade (which will be taped on Dec 1st..unless there is "weather"). You should be fine.

I was using my phone last night so its tough to type long responses, but if there was a weather issue the parade would be postponed to Sunday not moved up.

They would have to have a really good weather forecast and to expect really bad weather for both days for them to move it up.

If they moved it up, it would be a nightmare since all the "acts" would have to get there a day earlier and that may be impossible. They probably only schedule them for Saturday and Sunday.

The only issue I see in you not getting your perfect empty MK experience is that they may be setting up the stage in front of the castle.

We were there last year during the taping and road the RR and was able to get around to all the rides and walk right on. To get anywhere through Main Street we had to walk through the shops which wasn't a big deal. The side walks and Main street itself was all blocked off. Yes, there were a lot of people around to see the parade,but the rest of the park was mostly empty.
Using the stores to walk through was a good trick....

To be clear..if there's "weather", they'll likely push the parade forward to Dec 2nd.

I can't remember a year, weather or not, where they've pushed it back.
