Was wondering how many people use the reverse psychology theory and avoid the early admission park and how this works for you....Do the other non early parks seem to be less crowded and if so...is it worth avoiding early admission???? Please help!!! Looking to make some advance dining reservations for August and needs some ideas

I think that plan might be good for EPCOT maybe even MGM. I would not do it at the MK though, that extra hour in the morning is great. I think it really depends on your group what way works best. Some people can't make it to park open- so they should avoid the EMH morning parks. Some people are all adult groups so the night time extra hours might make sense for them. We have kids, we try to make the early park opens.... it works for us.

I know I am going to MK in a couple of weeks, and I am going on thursday because they don't have an extra magic hour in the morning. I am doing this because I am not staying on property, and I want to have a fair chance at getting on the rides first. And if I go on a day with EMH then there are already people in the park before I even walk in.

EMH is basically just too early for us, so we sleep in a little and go to the opposite parks of EMH. So far we have found them to be a little less crowded. For us going to a park at regular opening time is much easier than making it at EMH opening time.

We also use the reverse psychology of not going straight to Fantasyland. We have always found lines to be shorter at dinnertime and after than first thing at park opening there. We do Frontierland first, then Adventureland and have never had long waits, even for the "big" rides doing this.

We plan on hitting the EMH park...... and staying until noon - then going back to POR.. and park hop to another park for the rest of the day.

With the Park Hopping as an option now...... is the EMH park more likely to stay busy the rest of the day?????

When I first heard the theory of avoiding early entry, my reaction was :rotfl2: :rotfl: :rotfl2: . After another year of taking guests to the Magic Kingdom my opinion of the theory is :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: . 99 people out of 100 will tell you that when they got to the park at rope drop, they were able to do a ton before everyone else gets there--and that's even on a regular 9am opening! If guests sleep in for a 9am open, then what are the chances of them showing up for the 8am EMH? Uh...how about 0. The guests who avoid EMH are making an assumption that every guest on property will be taking advantage of EMH. Take advantage of the one hour that you will have in the parks without an outside guest--or sleep in...the early risers thank you :teeth:

We alway do emh. If it starts to get real busy we will head to a different park around 10 a.m. or so. But we are always able to do so much during that first hour or so.

the morning emh park is the single best strategy that i use for beginning a productive day at the parks. you literally walk on rides for hours, and then with all the information out there to avoid the morning emh park, they are staying noncrowded even longer. i can do all of fantasy land and space and buzz a few times before i encounter any lines, by then i have my fastpass for splash and/or space. i say, keep avoiding the morning emh park people. i will personally make sure that those parks continue to be used.

I agree...EMH are terrible! Don't take advantage of them! Stay in bed....don't even go to the EMH park that day! Definitely DO NOT do the EMH evening hours, you will be waiting in never ending lines FOREVER!

There...do you think that will work? The more people who hear how terrible they are = less crowded parks! We will be sure to walk right onto everything!!!! :rotfl2:

EMH is a funny thing.

When Morning EMH is at 8AM, the biggest lines for the busses to those parks is...at 10AM.

People intend on getting up early, and set themselves on going to that park that day (maybe their last chance to go to MK, for instance), but sleep in and artifically inflate attendance for the entire day.

The best advice that can be given is get up, get out of bed, and to the park by 8AM. Between 8AM and 11AM or noon you can get a HUGE number of attractions done. And, remember, even by 10AM or so when the park starts filling up, you will already be deep in and still head of the crowds.

Then head out before/after lunch, and go to another park or back to the resort for a break.

You will see so much more this way - and stand in a lot less lines. It's also so uplifting to be leaving the park and watching everyone else moving in huge throngs in the opposite direction. :)

N.E.D.

I am glad I looked at this thread. I thought of the same thing, hit EMH early and then go to another less crowded park later after lunch.

I figured the late evening hours would be worse so I am avoiding those parks entirely that day.

We have always been EMH people, we get sooo much done in that first hour.

I tried the reverse pysch once, will never do it again.

Have never experience evening EMH, will be there in 4 days!

A big thumbs up for early EMH and a big thumbs down for evening EMH, the only exception for this would be AK, the evening EMH was great there. Being able to Park Hop is essential though. Have a great trip.

I despise getting up at 5:00 am when I'm on vacation so I do not like EMH. I'd rather see more evening hours!

:rockband: We get up early to go to the EMH park before it opens.

We then go back to the room around 11:00, nap, and hit a non-early park in the afternoon.

We generally go in the off season, and this still makes a major difference.

The first hour to two hours in the parks is no lines.

Remember that the EMH start later in the off season, as the regular opens are later in the off season.

Naps are the key to happiness.

Obviously this applies to early EMH.

I have never gotten up at 5 to make morning EMH. But then again, we can wake up, shower, dress, and be at the bus stop in under 30 minutes (Yep, that is with a 6 and a 9 year old). Fast mornings are one of my few skills. We put sun block on while in line for the bus or on it. We eat breakfast about 9 or 10.
