Avoid Winn Dixie by Giordano's on 192

We find the groceries in Florida are higher than where we live in New York State. That being said, we usually shop at Publix and Super Wal-Mart when in Orlando. But, I only go to Wal-Mart very early in the am or late at night. Otherwise it is a mad house. I cannot get over how fresh foods grown in Florida and more expensive in Florida than in NY. We have also gone to Sam's Club on 192 to get some things that we knew they would have that we like. It's a bit of a drive, but you get to see more of Kissimmee that way.

Thats why I send my inlaws to either the Orange Lake Publix or the Super Target...both a better option

Which one was this so we can avoid it? Thanks

It is at Formosa Gardens plaza, next to Outback Steakhouse.

It is very very expensive.

Conversely Publix are differently priced depending upon the store as well.

We recently stayed at Tuscan Hills on US27 which has a Publix almost across the road at Berrytown Centre.

this Publix was quite expensive and we also shopped at the Wal Mart north of the 192 on US27 which was considerably cheaper.

However, one day we stopped at the Publix just before the 192 ends (possibly called summer bay) and splits north and south on US27 and found this to be cheaper and were told by a local man shopping their that the one on US27 at berrytown centre was well known locally to be more expensive due to the high number of tourists shopping their because of the high number of rental homes on sub divisions on US27.

yes Orange lake was also cheaper than Winn Dixie (Aka Goodings) and we liked the Super target behind Longhorn and Olive Garden as well.:thumbsup2

Maybe I should consider myself lucky in WI.

12 pack of soda in WI $2.50 - $3.00...Winn Dixie $4.50

Bag of Lays Chips in WI $2.00...Winn Dixie $4.29

12 Pack of Beer in WI $8.00...Winn Dixie $13.39

Liter of Bacardi Rum in WI $16.00...Liquor Store across from WD $26.00

Total sticker shock tonight...oh well an expected $80-$100 trip was $170.

Wow what part of the State do you live in? I don't have those type of prices at my local store! We use garden grocer when we go to the world. We have found that they get us great deals and all the name brands we want. It is easy and it sounds like cheeper than the "traps" around the parks.

Wow!!! You would die if you saw the prices of groceries in MA. YOur prices are below sale prices fo rme. I think if you want to compare grocery prices you should do so within the same area of the state and not between states. They can vary GREATLY.

This! :thumbsup2 I remember thinking, Oh...we'll have to get oranges while we're there. Well, they were significantly higher than in MA. Everything else seemed lower though. Weird.

Oh my! I'm thinking I'd better plan my route!! I was thinking of heading to walmart for some items before we check in to ASMo! I've used gardengrocer.com and was happy with them, but this time we'll have a rental car.

Thanks for letting us know, I'll write this down so I can plan my route and avoid this money trap!:flower3:

I agree. It's Florida -- they should be giving away oranges on the street corners. :lmao:

When we were there in August we paid $6.99 for a 3 lb bag or oranges at SuperTarget on 192 (imported from South Africa of all places). Out of 10 oranges in the bag, 4 were full of mold on the inside. Needless to say, I took the whole bag back for a refund.
