How has Avis been at MCO? We have a ressie for an intermediate size. (Allegedly Grand Am size) What have your experiences been with an intermediate? How is check in, service, etc.? Thanx for your help.

Hello plutospup-
We recently booked with avis for memorial week. When we booked using a rate code called USA we got a terrific low rate and all cars from economy up to full size were the same price, so we booked a full size for the extra room. Also if you register on line to get a wizard #, you get an online coupon for 5 dollars off per day up to 5 days. It can reduce your rental costs an additional 25 dollars.

Simple, smooth, easy process. Check in was super fast and then off to the garage to pick up the car. We had reserved an economy but got an SUV instead! Used a code off of mousesavers.com plus the wizard discount and everything including tax came to $115 for the week. The process was soooooo simple. They didn't ask any questions about the code or the coupon....no problems using them. They didn't even ask for my insurance verification. I was very happy with them.....would definately rent from them at MCO again!!

Hello Pug Mom-
Did you use the USA code? Did it save you more then the other codes out there?

I used the Florida Space coast group rate code K163324 I found on Mousesavers.com. It saved me a TON!!!! There was no questions asked using this code!! Then I used the Wizard # coupon to save an extra $25!!

Thanks Pugmom- We're booked for Memorial Weekend using USA rate code and same AWD# and extra Wizard coupon too. The savings are terrific!!! So much for all the nay sayers who have posted that this combination of codes don't work ! Drop a note to Mary @ Mousesavers about your rental. When I last e-mailed her, she asked for follow ups on if the USA code had in fact worked.

I keep hearing about this USA code and how it is working on Avis' system with great results. However, others have written that it is supposed to be for military personnel. Can anyone who has used this recently please report back on how it worked? Was it a valid code? Did Avis accept it at the counter with no problem? I am looking to book a rental for an upcoming vacation, but I would hate to book a reservation with a code and not be able to use it when I got there.

I have called Avis Customer Service, and was told it is for military personnel, only. They said that the booking date has already expired, too. However, anytime you go to Avis online reservations, it will accept the code and give a good rate. The rental location will not have a rate in the computer for you. At that time, they can either choose to honor your rate print out, or charge you the regular rate for your car class reserved. It is all a gamble, I guess if you wouldn't mind taking the chance of paying full rate, it would be okay to give it a try to maybe get a great rate.

Thanks for the info C.D. I don't especially like surprises or having to deal with the risk, when it comes to rental cars. Especially when the rate without the code is double what it is with it. I guess I will keep the decent rate I found at Dollar and just keep looking before I go.

Just so everyone understands, I didn't use the USA code only the AWD code I found on Mousesavers. I tried the combination of both and the USA didn't change the rate. So for everyone out there obsessing about using the USA code, just try the AWD#K163324. It worked fine, no questions asked at the counter!! This rate is from the Florida Space Coast website, it is a group rate for this organization and totally works to save TONS of money on your rental. Its a tourist website and you are a tourist so therefore you are part of their "group". The people at the Avis counter could have cared less about how I got the rate I did. The process at the counter took 2 minutes and I was done. Have your printout with you just in case but you should have NO PROBLEMS whatsoever using this code. I was nervous too about it before I got to the counter. I was all prepared if asked to say I was planning to spend a day at the Kennedy Space Center. But NO QUESTIONS WERE ASKED. So go for it guys!! Have a backup rental if you are that worried about it but definately give it a try. Avis is so convient being right at the airport and to get these great rates.....you just can't beat it!!

I signed up for the WIzard # on Avis and I received my coupon. Do I need to enter the coupon number when I am making the reservation, or do I just present the coupon at the rental counter and they apply the $25.00 discount there? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks a bunch!!

There is no need to plug in the Wizard # with your reservation. When you get to the counter, simply give them the coupon and the $25 savings is yours!!! Be aware however that the extra $25 will not show up on the papers they give you when you check in, the savings will come off at the end when you return the car. I was worried about it when they first gave me the papers (since I like to have EVERYTHING in writing) but it came off at the end....no problem...I didn't even have to mention it again. Hope that helps!!!
