I think the "right price" depends on your context.
Considering the high purchase price and high dues, I've always thought
DVC rentals were priced
too low at $10 per point.
HOWEVER...the rental market is very different from the value of
DVC lodging.
Prospective renters are going to be looking at a lot of other options, mostly offsite. What they'll find is they can rent a
2 BR offsite for $700 for an entire week. (And I mean
NICE 2 BR in a beautiful resort.) They can often rent a 5-6 bedroom pool home offsite for less than they can rent a DVC 1 BR.
I know it's not apples to apples, and I'm very well aware of the advantages of DVC -- but most people
renting are focused heavily on saving money. They're willing to sacrifice a little quality for a vacation they can afford, and honestly, to many, they don't feel like they're sacrificing anything.
In that context, $10 per point will seem high to many prospective renters.
