What does the average paycheck look like for an attractions cast member?? How Many hours per week, and how easy is it to pick up shifts? Let's say the magic kingdom is your home park, can you pick shifts up in other locations?

I can't really tell you what an average attractions paycheck looks like since it wasn't my role but I do know from many friends that CPs that work in attractions get paid minimum wage so money could be a little tight if you have a lot of expenses.
All CPs are guaranteed 30 hours a week so that around that amount is what you'll be scheduled weekly. This, of course might vary on busier times when you could get scheduled a lot more hours.

Picking up shifts is a relatively simple procedure, it's all done through the Hub (the employee website) but it all depends if there's shifts available or if another cast member wants to give their shift away

As far as working in other attractions, You can only work in the attractions you are trained in. Some locations train you in multiple attractions. For example, in Fantasyland attractions' locations are divided in three areas; Pooh side, Pan side and Phillar side. Pooh side cast members work in the Pooh ride, the tea cups and Snow White. Pan side works Peter Pan and Small World. Phillar side works Phillarmagic, the carousel and dumbo. (Unless this has changed but you get the point.)
Depending on which location you're placed at you get to work on the various rides belonging to it.
But some attractions aren't like this. If you work at Jungle Cruise, you only work Jungle Cruise. Full timers and part timers may work in multiple attractions but they rarely train CP in other attractions.

Hope this helps!

My buddy worked in MK attractions and he was complaining that he was living in poverty. For all i know he could have been blowing his money on frivolous things though, but idk.

So I worked attractions this past spring (spring 11) and i loved it. my role was a little different than a typical attraction role because i had a spiel role. you get paid a good bit more for spiel. not only that, but my attraction counted as transportation, too, so that added a bit to my hourly wage as well. i was paid 8.10/hour. thats a good bit more than minimum wage.

my average check was around 250-300$. there were many weeks where it was a little less but not often. i know some cp's at my attraction made 400$ checks because we were so short staffed we had to work 55+ hours a week. spiel+55+ hours= no voice. it was hard, not gonna lie.

like it was already stated, i never moved to a different attraction. there really wasn't time for me to do so. you have to be trained to do pretty much anything at disney world. there are some roles you can pick up that dont require training but they go quick!

and you can probably guess but the attraction i was working was kilimanjaro safaris at DAK. talk about the best role ever!!

my next program (spring 2012) i am going to be a character attendant and ill be making 7.31/hour... might not seem like a big difference but that's almost a dollar less than safari.

I hear that's one of the most prestigious roles at Disney. Didn't you have to memorize like a 75 page script?

Just curious, but do they take out taxes as well from our pay. So its even smaller???

There's no state income tax that's taken out of your paycheck, as Florida doesn't have one. I can't remember about federal taxes though...:confused3

it was a pretty sweet gig. yeah, we had to memorize a script. it wasnt 75 pages. just 22. and then we had to learn at least 2 facts about each animal.. and where were 60 animals.

Yeah, there are still taxes taken out, unfortunately. Last spring when I worked, the minimum wage was $7.25, and after taxes I believe it was closer to $6.50. I believe they've raised minimum wage to $7.31, which is a little better! : )

In the top left hand corner, there is the name and address of the company that's paying you ... top right corner will have a check number and a date. Towards the middle will be a dollar amount written out in words, and also numbers, and probably your name somewhere. At the bottom, there will be a signature.

;)
