Average food costs???

I am researching the various Dream Maker Plans and wondering if they are a good deal or not. How much can one typically spend on food at Disney. DH, Me, DS12, DD10, DS10. None of the kids are huge eaters, they eat normal amounts of food, I guess. My thought is to have breakfast type food in the room, probably a larger lunch where ever we happen to be, sit down rest. most likely, then dinner will be pick up and take with you kind of food. How much per day would 5 people typically spend on average?

I would say do NOT go with the meal packages. They are a waste of money for most people. We (family of 4) spent less than $150 per day eating counter service breakfast, one priority seating and one other counter service restaurant per day.

I'm thinking of using the silver add on for our next trip. I'll only use the wishes for the fancy meals, dinner shows, Cirque...

We usually figure about $100 for our family of four for food. Some days we spend more, other days we spend less, but we usually come in under budget. I don't think you'll need to spend much more than that with the other child in mind.

Make sure you do some meal sharing (portions are normally huge at WDW) and drink water at restaurants to cut down on soda costs. Adults can also order kids meals at take out if they want something smaller too.

We budget $125 per day for food and usually come pretty close to that. We schedule a lot of character meals. I agree with the OP about checking out the menus. You can get a really good idea about how much you'll spend.

We budget about $100 a day for lunch, dinner, snacks, since we bring down cereal, etc. for breakfast in the room. That's for a family of four - hubby (average male eater ) me (light eater) DD13 (average eater) and DD11 (light, picky eater, but with expensive taste) We spend $25-$30 on lunch (counter service) and about $60 for dinner, with a couple of shared ice cream bars for a snack. If we're doing a sit-down dinner like the Garden Grill, we tend to go lightly on lunch, with just a salad and sandwich split between us.

I think it all really depends on how you're willing to spend your trip - a lot of time in restaurants, getting big meals to make the cost of the package worth it, or not.

DH, DS (4) and I planned $100/day for food. We used Q&C and VKL vouchers for many meals (see detailed post in everything you......vouchers) and they saved us a ton of money. But we talked a bit to CM's at the restaurants and the concensus seems to be that a LOT of people with the "wishes" end up with tons of leftover unused meals. Portion sizes are HUGE at disney and sharing is a great way to go.

Definitely! For 2 adults and 2 kids it would be $90 a day for the add-on meal cost. That is quite a deal, I think
