Avengers Campus Superthread – Opening June 4, 2021!

Ugh, it's really frustrating that access to Guardians is going to be restricted. We don't care about seeing the rest of the land right now, but Guardians is a must do for us.

Another question if anyone knows. This super cool Spiderman flying through the air thing...is that a regular show? Or was that just for the media event?

It was designed to be a regular show. There is a piece about it on Disney+. I watched it so long ago I don't remember exactly what that feature was part of...could have been that series about the history of the Disney Parks or could have been one of those shorts that each feature a different Disney employee/job. Anyway, that being said, who knows if it's truly ready for daily use even if that was the intent. Watching that opening ceremony last night, I was wondering if they actually had the robot operating live or if people there were watching it on a screen and it had been pre-taped to guarantee nothing went wrong.

The day we go to DCA, we need to visit Avengers Campus twice. Want to see it both during the day and especially want to see it at night with all the lights and shows they have planned. Plus that chicken shawarma has my name on it, can't wait to try it out perhaps a few times while there.

I've had Shawarma in the middle east. So good. This will be a high bar to clear. 🤣

When we were there last Tuesday and they were doing cast member previews, they shut off access at the right turn by the Hyperion and were funneling people through the Hyperion for the previews, so "regular" guests didn't have access to GOTG. It was kind of frustrating because we hopped over from Disneyland promptly at 1 and went to Soarin first since it had a short line, only to go to Hollywood Land and find that GOTG had closed at 1:30 -- I didn't think to check the operating hours.

In the "grand opening" ceremony last night they certainly made it seem like GOTG was going to be part of the campus, which does make it frustrating if access will be restricted based on land capacity (although that area does give them more area to spread people out and potential increase the "capacity".

I actually think the new campus will help the lines in the rest of the park if they haven’t yet increased the amount of people allowed into the park based on the campus’ capacity. There will be people in the land plus waiting in two separate lines outside - one for boarding passes and one for standby. So that should take some of the pressure off the rest of the rides. At least that’s my hope...

Totally agree! I've traveled several destinations in the middle-east and I love having either the lamb, pork or chicken shawarma's. Especially if they make it a traditional way with hummus and crispy french fries inside the sandwich. At first I questioned "Why in the world are there french fries in there!" Although the taste of the crispy thick cut french fries complements the greasy shawarma perfectly along with a garlicy hummus favor.

Can't expect Disney to reach to that level, so my expectations will be low. Although if it's close to the shawarma that Disney makes in the Morocco pavilion at Epcot, I'm buying it multiple times.

I wonder how long they'll even need to restrict capacity to the area? Remember the boarding groups to access SWGE that were only needed for a day or two?

But this land is also much smaller. And now we're coming up on what's likely to be a heavy travel summer so who knows!

Our first day we'll go straight there just so we can explore and after that we'll likely rely on the boarding group access. I do want to see it at night though! Especially the Dr. Strange area.

We’re going to be at DCA Friday and I’m a little worried about how crowded it will be there. I know it’s capped capacity, but still seems like it will be pretty crazy. Especially since I’ll have a hard time convincing half of my group to go early to wait to enter! How bad is it to go early with half the group (3-4 of us) to wait and the others (2) show up later?
I think that with the increased use of virtual queues, we will start to notice the parks to become more crowded because less people are in lines

I don't know how the fact that people can only ride Web Slingers once a day and they can't visit as frequently as they used to is going to affect enjoyment of it. Since it's going to require developing a bit of skill to score well on it, I really wonder how people are going to be interested in riding it once a day, infrequently. And, if you can only ride it once a day, infrequently, I don't imagine those $65 toys are going to be flying off the shelves in the beginning. You need to be able to ride a LOT for those to make sense.

I agree. It’s almost like they need to sell some kind of PASS that would allow people to visit regularly. That way, such a visitor would be able to ride a lot and get value out of an expensive ride peripheral. If only there were such a PASS that one could buy. Oh well.

pretty sure its permanent, or at least a show close to it... i dont think they would build an solid infrastructure and not use it more than once...

I hope that it is a show. The only thing would be in a year, some of the phrases need to change. I watched a video on it and it was amazing. Cannot wait to see it in August

It was on One Day at Disney! One of the imagineers who worked on it was highlighted. I couldn't remember where I saw it either, but my husband did. :) It definitely looks really cool!

There are a couple shows actually. I didn't get to see the Spiderman show, but did watch the one with Black Panther and Black Widow. I found it funny that while this really fun fight was going on, Hawkeye and Thor were standing watching the fight! Tonight was a preview for a group of "Influencers", executives, and invited guests, and we were lucky enough to get asked to join. The food sampling was great. The drinks were good, but not sure I'd order them normally as while they tasted great, they were very light on the alcohol for the price. And they are all "pour" drinks. A lot of good picture taking sites. We had a great time.

Good feedback on the drinks, thanks. We'll be celebrating DD 21st birthday there in a couple of weeks, and light alcohol would be good so she can order a drink but not get drunk.
