Avatar-Pandora demand

I was shaking my head about Avatarland from day 1. I don't get it. Animal Kingdom needed something else and I hope it's good but I still don't get it!

Pretty much my feeling on it.

I enjoyed the movie. I think they could do some really cool things... But years of construction and a whole land for this? Meh. I would have preferred they got started on the HS expansion sooner.

I enjoyed Avatar. It was a visually stunning melodrama, just like Titanic. My sister, who falls asleep in almost every movie, also enjoyed it and said she would love to visit Pandora. I agree, and that is what's exciting about this new land at DAK.

Did anyone see the traveling Avatar museum exhibit? It was one of the coolest I have ever seen. You could learn to speak Nav'i. It was one of the first I'd experienced where you threw a disk on a touch screen and it opened a bunch of windows and you could throw images around like they did in the movie (or like in Minority Report or Iron Man). My artist nephew was entertained for ages by the "design your own Pandora plant" station. It reminded me of when the Imagination pavillion was fun to play in.

I have not seen the movie even though we have it. Although silly, in my mind I see oversized alien Smurfs. But I will watch it before going to Avatarland.

My DS said to me exactly what is bolded and others have said ... it was visually awesome, particularly on the big screen but he follows with "you won't see it as much on the tv because it needs the big screen to have that impact". He went on to say it's basically a knock off of Fern Gully. 2009 visually stunning was innovative and so new to all that it had to impact the theater dollars. I'm not sure a followup will have that same kind of success since the movie was so well loved for it's technology. I think LOTS are being banked on a VISUAL experience aka superficial vs depth. But maybe that's all you need for a theme park.

I am NOT excited for Avatar in the AK and still don't see a fit, even with the environmental. I am EXCITED for something new, hopefully different and added attractions. Give the insane amount of money and time Mr. Rhode has spent on this project it better WOW all because it has come at the expense of other things.
