Avatar land details have been released includes new night time AK show!

I despise the fact that this project is moving forward. What a huge waste of money. People have already forgotten about the movies; it isn't even Disney. If Disney is abandoning the animal theme to Animal Kingdom, then why not move forward with the mythical beastly kingdom concept...at least they wouldn't be tied to a lame movie around which an entire land needs to now revolve (that again, is not even a Disney movie)

That said the luminescence stuff looks cool...but it could've been done without the movie tie-in.

I'm not a huge fan of the new land concept, but you do realize that there are two more Avatar movies coming out, so I doubt it will be forgotten about already.

Three more movies coming, each with an insane marketing push. These films are to be James Cameron's swan song as a director (according to him). Given the care he has taken with every film he's made thus far, you better believe he's going to put his everything into this universe.

I too would have preferred either Beastly Kingdome or Australia, but I have no doubt Avatarland will be fantastic.

I too would have preferred either Beastly Kingdome or Australia, but I have no doubt Avatarland will be fantastic.

I was telling my brother about this expansion and he just got so mad because he thinks Beastly Kingdom should be done instead. He actually gets mad every time we go to AK because he sees that dragon on the sign and it reminds him if what could have been. Maybe they should replace the dragon carving with a carving of sigourney weaver's head.

It wouldn't surprise me if they were to add some Avatar branding to the gate somehow. I am a bit sad if Beastly never sees the light of day. Avatarland would seem to suggest it won't. I am happy that the park is expanding and expanding hours though. I enjoy going to WDW during October/November/December, but find it difficult with MK being closed early for parties so frequently and the other parks with shorter hours. I'd like to see later nights when I visit.

I totally agree. This "AvatarLand" is a strange idea, indeed, but if it pushes AK into a full day park with nighttime rides...I'm wholeheartedly onboard!

But with Disney and Avatar as partners the possibility exists that Beastly Kingdom Dragons are portrayed in the Avatar movies. Why not have a fire breathing dragon as a Pandora or other world character? Both are imaginary so possibly the image will be tweaked to fit into the movies. We only saw a small part of Pandora in the first movie. I am betting there are even more new and interesting species to com.

I'm with you on new species but I don't think a fire breathing dragon would fit pandora. Similar things probably.
