Avatar experience coming to Disneyland

I hope they don't get rid of Redwood Creek. that's such a great area for kids to run around and it's super cute. (Plus, selfishly now that we're DVC members, I don't want to see Avatar crap right outside the Grand Californian. Would totally ruin the vibe.)

I think it will go in the area with the backlot. It fits more in the "this is what Hollywood does". I don't think it's going to be anything more than a walk-through but I'd love to be wrong. The monorail going through it that area more landlocked for a bigger attraction unless they plan to sacrifice Monsters Inc for a ride. Still that's not very large.

my thoughts exactly. how you enjoying your VGC ownership?

Yeah, I don't think they have the space for a Flight of Passage clone anywhere - maybe if they cut it in half. That said, I would not be opposed to unique attraction anyway - don't really need FOP with Soarin' in the same park.

We haven't actually used it yet, unfortunately. But we're using some points to stay at BRV in January. Then our first official "home" stay will be in June. I'm excited and hate having to wait so long!

I think that would be a really good place for it. Redwood Creek is not a good place for it to go for sure.

It's looking less and less likely that it's an actual attraction like FOP and more likely it's something similar to the Shanghai experience.

For real? Seems like it's been a long time since you bought it. We'll be there on Wednesday for a week. Can't wait to see San Fransokyo, ToonTown, and all the Christmas decorations. When are you going in June? We currently have reservations for 6/10-6/19.

We bought around March-ish. Seems like 100 years ago already. Ha! I love the Christmas stuff so I'm jealous. We'll hopefully see Christmas in the parks....in 2025. We are driving out next June and arrive at VGC on June 17th. Parks the 18th - 22nd. So just a slight overlap! We'll be in a studio.

Agree, I just closed on a VGC contract last week, so I hope they don’t mess with it, the vibe and view is part of the reason I bought VGC!!

I’ll be at BRV first week of Feb, excited to see the resort and WDW.

So exciting when it’s that close to a trip. Enjoy!

We just got back, (Halloweentime) San Fransokyo was cool, and first time on Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway was great, we ended up riding it 3-4 times!!

Going to use the VGC contract for the first time Dec 2024.

I still remember vividly when my VGC points first loaded into my account and using it for the first time. I was giddy like a child. Your first stay as owners will be even more magical. So happy for you both. We’ve been going as owners since 2021 and it never gets old. It’s the best resort in all of DVC imo.

Even though I don't want Redwood Creek to be removed, I could see an Avatar experience fitting over there with the forest atmosphere.

Or at least I wouldn't be surprised with their previous decision to remove Bugs Land. I miss all the greenery and foliage over there. Avengers Campus is cool, but it feels like a big asphalt/concrete lot.

Hopefully (assuming the DCA leak is true), no matter where the Avatar experience goes, it is done well and doesn't feel like a cheap thing they threw in just to absorb more people.

Or maybe not?

Update: A Disneyland official reached out earlier today to say there was no announcement made on behalf of Disneyland Resort regarding the location of the Avatar experience. It's unclear exactly what was said during the panel - or if someone misspoke or someone misheard.
Nothing to see here! No one said anything! No one heard anything! Move along!

Sounds to me like someone spilled a few beans that weren't meant to leave the bag...

I think it might be incorrect info, but even if not, they would have to remove Grizzly Peak wouldn't they?

Avengers Campus is so.....blah. You hit the nail on the head about the big concrete lot. And in the summer....so hot. Yuck. I miss Bugs Land.

If it is truly going to be an attraction, you're right, they probably would need to remove Grizzly Peak. Didn't Iger say it'll be just as good as Pandora at WDW? Despite that, I'm being slightly cynical in thinking it'll be a walkthrough type experience they give us.

They have never referred to it as an attraction ... it's been "experience" from the get-go. I agree that it will likely be a walk-through. I would be very surprised (and devastated!) if they got rid of the Redwood Creek Challenge Trail.
