Avatar 3D-anyone else feel very sick?

DS 14 had to leave the theatre after about 20 minutes due to extreme dizziness, shakiness, headache,....very scaary feeling. He asked me to bring him to the emergency room (I never even know when this kid is sick). He kept asking me to make the feeling stop.

The doctor came into the room and asked if it was Avatar that we saw in 3d-said it's been all over the news that people are getting sick when seeing the 3d version. I can't find any news articles about it-just forums where people discuss it.

DS is prone to motion sickness, not a lot of fun at amusement parks. He hates them.

Anyone else have this trouble?

We had no problem seeing it in 3-D. We did see it on a regular screen.

I do have problems with seeing some 3-D on the I-Max screens. I felt a little queasy watching Star Trek earlier this year in 3-D on I-Max.

None of us had issues, and my mom struggles with motion sickness. We saw the theater version, but IMAX, which I think would make me feel a little dizzy in 3D.

I hope he is better now =)

I felt sick but not enough to leave let alone go to the ER. It happened a few times but most noticeable for me was at the beginning when they were showing the 3D map. Poor kid, is he better now?

I am prone to motion sickness and only had one moment, early in the film, that bothered me. After that it went away and I enjoyed the entire movie in 3D.

Only problem I had was that the 3D glasses weren't very comfortable across the bridge of my nose. No motion sickenss issues.

I saw it today in 3D. I got a little bit of a headache but I thought it might be from the dry air in the theater. My eyes felt dry too. Probably wasn't blinking enough while concentrating on the film.

I wonder if it could be from.... if the two images being projected were out of sync or something?

It could also happen if you are sitting too close to the screen.

well yes it happened to my 14 year old daughter.And I saw the doctor too.He said it was avatar and you should never take your children to see movies again.Bad mommy!!!Just kidding love ya

DH wanted us all to see it, and I told him only if it was NOT the 3-D version.

I get motion sickness on airplanes and at Disney on the rides. There is no way that I could watch a 3-D movie. (I get the Scopolamine patch from my doctor when we go on vacation.)

Your poor son! At least you know that 3-D movies are a no-go with him.

Both my boys had a bit of queasiness and headaches after we left, and neither one of them is prone to motion sickness at all. What's funny is that my DD, who is the one member of the family prone to motion sickness, didn't have any trouble at all.

I saw a piece on the news about it. OP, it seems your son is not alone. According to the report, many people have felt ill after seeing Avatar in 3-D.

Ohh, poor kid, that must have been terrible especially considering tickets run around $6.50 these days. We saw the regular version and I thought it was fantastic. We skipped the 3 D version but I have to say that at certain parts of the film it crossed my mind how sick it would make me feel if I was watching it 3 D. In particular, every part where they were flying

Since we were only a half hour into the movie, I asked the manager if we could have two passes to a regular non-3D movie to use at a later date and he gave them to me.

We just saw it last night- no problems here and DH is prone to motion sickness. We were seated toward the rear of the theater, and it wasn't IMAX.

We just got back from seeing it in 3D. I have an awful time with motion sickness and vertigo but this didn't bother me at all. One thing I did do was wear the glasses during all the previews and stuff so by the time the movie came on I had adjusted pretty well. I wear glasses with progressive lenses and no issues. I also have a cataract that is coming out later in Jan. that makes my vision fuzzy at times and it didn't cause issues.

I think you need to be pretty still if you are prone to nausea from motion.

After taking my nephew to "Meet The Robinson's" in 3-D awhile back. Vertigo sucks!

i felt bad during the flying scenes, and when it first started. i was okay through most of the movie though. but afterwards i felt very bad and had a strong head ache and i had to take a nap.

my theatre was only showing the 3d version, which i was really wary about. but i enjoyed the movie and i'm glad i saw it, even though i felt sick.

Huh, you know, we were very close to the screen......I bet that didn't help my motion sickness at all, I didn't even think about that.
