Okay, I know I need to call MS... but Brother just called and they want to go to Disney.

THey have Marriott Cypress (SP?), reserved until tonight, but wanted to know if they could go onsite with us.... since it's such sort notice, I didn't think Interval exchange would work. I'd have to pony up points... but even if I do that, you think there is any availabliity?????

Of course, got the message at 5 p.m. (brother left message on my cell at 9:30 this morning, but because I was at work didn't get it til EOD). and they need answer now....LOL!

Cypress Harbour is a resort I own at. It is near Sea World and only about 7 miles from WDW. Great resort -- similar to Old Key West if you want a WDW comparison.

Doubt they could exchange it into DVC as there is usually a regional block on II for Orlando. May is a pretty low period in that the spring breaks and Easter holidays are over, but summer vacation does not really start until mid June. My guess is you can find accommodations in DVC then, but you may need to be flexible.

Your brother sounds like mine. Sometimes you gotta tell them that every little boy can't have all the sweeties in the sweetie shop.

No, he can't exchange a Cypress week for Disney. There's a block on Orlando trades through II. The only way possible is to use an owned Cypress to make a reservation somewhere else that trades well (i.e. Hawaii in summer, Spring break in the Caribbean) and try to get a trade that way. It's time consuming though. And if you don't get a trade, you have to go where the week is booked. (I own Cypress as well. Very nice resort that reminds me of OKW a bit. Just hate all those new speed bumps!!!)

Otherwise, you need to pony up the points if you have them. If your brother is getting his own accommodations then rent him the necessary points. Or you could look for a member discount. (Cheaper on weekends but more expensive weekdays.) Either way, you'll have more flexibility dealing with MS than II.

This is why though I've invited my sibs to join us on trips, I told them they need to speak up 11 mos in advance. Otherwise I'm getting a one bedroom and can only take two people who get the sofa.

THeir marriott is based in Arizona....

SO yes, they could get an exchange into Marriot here in Orlando, and yesterday, could get either OKW 2BR or BCV 2BR thru Interval exchange. BUt then they had to ask if son could get off because he just made water polo team, and surprise, no availability at OKW or BCV today.

I'm just kinda watching this play out right now... I'm not sure they can commit quickly enough.... and yes, I could use my points (would have to borrow, but with their back / forth I'm hesitant to do it)....

But I would love to have them there.... more updates later.... I sent them email with links, and waiting to see if they take it to the next step.

Brother and Family made reservations at Marriott Horizons, and bought plane tickets, so they are coming....

Marriott Horizons and Cypress Harbour are favorites of ours (besides our DVC). Horizons reminds me of a Disney resort - especially with the slides and themed pool areas for kids.

We're at Old Key that same week in May and we just booked our friends in a 1 bedroom at Marriott Horizons on a II getaway. So we'll be going back and forth between Horizons and Old Key West that week.
