Not sure if this is the right place, but... In trying to rent points from a DVC member, if there is no availability for my dates, does it make sense to try to rent thru someplace like David's, or are they looking at the same pool of rooms that DVC owners can see?

David's or some other broker might have a room already available for rent, basically a room that they or some other owner already booked and is making available for rent. But if not, then no. If the DVC site shows no availability to me, then it would be the same story with David's or anybody else as well.

That's what I suspected, but I know that sometimes agencies reserve/buy blocks of rooms and wondered if the DVC retail places did that too. Bummer. I didn't think early January would book up so quickly.
Drat. Just checked rundisney. Our dates overlap marathon weekend. Explains a lot... no DVC availability, no bounceback. Might re-think the vacation dates.

That's what I mean, they may have confirmed reservations available for rent so check them...although I wouldn't want to be there during marathon weekend unless I had no other choice, personally.

Early January is a very popular time for DVC, because of the marathon, and the long MKL weekend, but also because of the points needed being in a low season. It generally books up pretty early. Especially studios, but I'm not even showing any (removed details) so yes, you probably need to rethink the dates. Sorry. The key to DVC has generally been to book as early as possible.

I have been during Marathon Week before, and as far as the average guest that is just doing the parks, it is OK, BUT there may be transportation and bus delays as they close off roads for runners.
