Kind of putting the cart before the horse here, but we're waiting for ROFR on a resale.....if it comes through, hopefully in the next week or two, then another week for points to be in account,,,,what are the chances of a 2 bedroom or 2 studios in Oct of this year?

Home resort would be BC, we know that would be out, but what about every where else? Is that too short a notice?

October is a busy time for DVC. I know someone posted that nothing was available anywhere the first week.

Kind of depends on when in Oct, I think

I called two weeks ago for two studios the last week of October...the only availability was SSR (which we love, so no problem)...

But, since the people I'm taking on this trip have only been once before, and that was to SSR, I was thinking I'd like to try something different, so I've been calling off & on since then...nothing available for the five days (Sun-Fri) at any other resort (obviously, not checking at SSR since I already have that)...

Needing two studios makes it harder...there were a bunch of "hole-y" possibilities ... a studio w/only one night missing--in different resorts...but no two were alike, and I need both studios in the same resort...

So...I'd say that SSR is a possibility but the others are dicey...

Two-bedrooms are usually in shorter supply than studios, but w/waitlisting you might have more luck since you could reserve most of your nights and waitlist/call for any missing one or two nights and that might well work out...

Good luck!

Just an FYI---once you pass ROFR, it usually takes about 10 days to close and another week or so for points to show up in your account after that. It all depends on how fast the seller returns the paperwork.

We passed ROFR on the 19th of Jan. and closed on the 2nd of Feb. Points were there by the 7th of February.

I hope things go fast and that there is something there when you call! Good luck!!!! pixiedust:

So here's another ? Is there difference in availability at DVC resorts whether you're paying cash or using points? Meaning do they save some rooms for non-dvc cash paying customers?

Different inventory so yes, there are rooms that can be available for cash but not points.

So then I could do some nights, what's available say on points and then some on cash? Can all that be done through member services, or because it's different inventory have to go through the main reservation system.

It's always possible, but most likely improbable. There's a link to the availability thread. http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2320652 Currently the only resorts that show availability in October are 1 BR's at OKW and everything except THV's at SSR. How accurate is that information, :confused3 that's a don't know, because all of the data is on a volunteer basis.

Good luck with ROFR, and you might want to think of alternate dates in case October doesn't work out.

Looks like you might get to stay at SSR or OKW if your lucky. :thumbsup2

But that thread is really only good to show what is not available, not what is available. So, even though it looks like OKW might be available, you can't be guaranteed. My guess is that is isn't.

They are rooms from points that DVC itself owns (either unsold or returned through ROFR or forclosure) plus rooms are moved to CRO for cash reservations when a member trades outside of DVC. Plus any rooms that are open at 60 days can be made available to CRO, but members can still get those.

Called 4/23 for 7 nights in mid Oct and the only 2 bedroom I could get was SSR. We have been on a wait list since then for BCV and BWV. So far nothing has come thru.
I have started calling MS every few days to see if I can get 3-4 nights at one of the Epcot resorts and then only wait list for a few nights instead of 7. Can't even get 1 or 2 nights.
Busy time with the F&W Festival!!

:)OP, MS can reserve rooms on points as well as "cash" reservations. I reserved a week at BWVs one time and was a few points shy for the 7th night and the CM suggested purchasing that night with cash and she would link the reservations so we wouldn't have to change rooms. That's what I did with no problem. That was a few years ago but I don't think it has changed. You will not know if something is available unless you try is my motto, so good luck!

You can book a room through MS for cash. However, not all rooms and dates are available for a cash booking this way.

The inventory that Disney has available for cash is different. So, you could see availability on the Disney site, call MS and find out there is nothing for either cash or points.

But, if you book what you can with points, you can then do a separate reservation through Disney. The drawback is that these reservations can not be linked to a DVC reservation and you have to check out/in. Many times, you even have to move but I believe they try to keep you in the same room.

The best way, if it can be done, is to try for a cash room (assuming you can't get it all on points) through MS first, and then if all else fails, go through Disney.

Good luck!

MS may have cash inventory ( if you're really lucky it could also be possible that 25% member cash discount may also be available, but discount is not always available and often you can get a better cash discount by booking through CRO or if you've got an AP that usually is best cash discount ).

If you book cash nights through CRO have them note the confirm number from your DVC points reservation and have MS note the confirm # from CRO cash reservation; if villa size/view is exactly same it is possible you may be able to remain in the same villa for both cash & points portions of stay but there is no guarantee.

Sending pixie dust for good luck pixiedust: & post back how it goes :goodvibes

Sometimes what you book for points is not offered for cash reservations. At the BWV, usually the standard view and the BW view are not available for cash either through MS or DRC.

Well right now I'm just going to hope for a pass on ROFR. I've made seperate reservations through CRO before due to timing of discounts and such and have done the whole switching of cards things. i've been lucky enough to not have to move as well. So we'll wait and see and become members first. I keep looking for back up resales just in case......

I'm sure i'll have more questions, thanks for everyones input...
