Availability of Polynesian Studios

It seems like we are going to WDW in January for three nights (mid week, value season) and we think about renting points for a Poly Studio rather than booking directly with Disney.

How about availability? I do not think we are going to book earlier than October, is there still a chance to get a Polynesian Studio when renting points, especially one with Lake View?

I would not be too disappointed if there is no availability, but we do not want to book before I am 100 % sure that we are going.

I guess chances are slim...

Realistically, even for Poly, even in low season, you want to be renting no later than 7 months out. You may sometimes be able to get lucky closer in, but there's a lot of demand for Poly rental, and looking 3 months out for most DVC units is unrealistic. Trying in October, you're much more likely to find availability at Saratoga.

If your desired dates overlap the first week of the month, you're already out of luck due to marathon.

Anything can happen. The closer you get to the dates though the lower the odds will go.

Lakeview - likely not. It's the smaller of the 2 categories at PVB.

You never know. If DVD declares more inventory into DVC, more rooms became available to book to members and suddenly dates that were closed open again. So it's worth checking even last minute (October for March is last minute for DVC reservations).

I stayed January of this year for 5 nights, garden view. But I did book 7 months out.
