When I called MS this morning for HH next February, the CM said that 1 BR there are always hard to get because there are so few of them. He made it sound like we were lucky to have gotten one at 7 months. Has anyone ever had to waitlist there for a 1 BR at 7 months in the off-season? I'm worried that some year we won't be able to get one, and we love to go there at that time of year. An add-on would be nice to get the 11 month window, but we're really not in a financial position to add on points. Please help ease my mind about getting a 1 BR off season.

If you are flexible with your dates, you will have good success at 7 months.

If you plan to go at a specific time each year, there may be times when it will be difficult (not impossible- but difficult).

In theory, since HH is sold out, every room is accounted for by those who own the resort. In reality, many of those owners are hoping to get an onsite room at 7 months- thus leaving availability at the HH resort.

Good Luck!

We have been able to get 1bdroom at 7 months for Christmas/NY week 3 times and once in July, but it is very hard to do unless you can be very flexible on summer dates. We had to get 2bdroom once in April and once at Christmas. I think summer is the hardest as is April vacation. I added-on HHI points last fall just to have some 11 month points because we just love this resort.

We've had good luck getting HH 1 BR during off seasons. Once for early October at 7 mos. out and once for end of Dec/early Jan at 5 mos. out. I think I'd love to go there some year in June - but worry that I won't even be able to get a 2 BR during "peak" season. Maybe I'll be lucky enough to find an owner to trade for VWL when the time comes! Good Luck.

It's very common for HH DVC to be available for rental on II for a 1 or 2 BR for Jan and Feb to early March. The price is usually in the $600-700 range. Also for next year there is tons of inventory for Jan through May for Marriott's Grande Ocean and Barony resorts, both ocean front. It's very likely that one could get a 2 BR for the cost of a studio exchange. Or one might work out a trade with a Marriott owner.

There are a few DVC 1 BR units for Jan and Feb with one in March, I didn't but one 2 BR units but DVC units for HH tend to show up later. My guess is though the new exchange system will decrease the number of units available on II by a proportional amount to the increase we've seen in other DVC resort deposits.

We have been able to book a 1-BR at HH 2 times at the 7 month window. Both times have been 6 nights during the Christmas-New Year's season.
