Availability for room only discounts- any way to know in advance?

I was wondering if there is any way to know which rooms will be available when discounts are released. What I mean is, when the discounts are released, are the discounted rooms determined by how many are already booked and current availability? Do the rooms/resort discount availability change each year? I hope Im making sense!

We want to stay in a CL room for our 10 year anniversary and don't really have a preference on resort. We are thinking BC or YC but are open to anything. I don't see much availability at this time for October .... Does no availability now mean that by the time they release Fall discounts that these rooms wont be included or available to book? Or do they hold rooms back for discounts (which I doubt lol)?

they go by availability. if a resort has a thousand rooms and 850 of them are booked then you probably will see 25 with a discount. on the other side of the coin, if a resort has a thousand rooms and only 150 are booked you would proabaly see 500 with a discount. the idea of the discounts is to fill rooms and if people are booking them then hoping that a discount is going to come around then they are doing more harm than good.
imo, if your happy with the price you are going to pay today book it. if you want a discount then I would wait. now that's just me, I have seen lots of people booking and now are waiting for the huge discount which may be very limited or even never come.
