I'm not sure if I am posting this in the correct sub board or not. Please let me know if I need to be on one of the other boards with this question

Anyway, I am considering renting DVC points for a villa this time around, because I have noticed the GF Studio will accommodate 5 persons. We are a family of 5 and have stayed at a deluxe standard room in the past due to most of the studio villas only accommodating 4 persons and the 1 bedroom villas being much more expensive for renting points than a standard deluxe room. How would I determine if the GF has Studio availability for our stay period before beginning my look to rent DVC points? I don't want/need points unless I know I'll be able to use them on a GF Studio.

Any help in getting started down the correct path would be greatly appreciated.

If within the next 7 months, ******.com. If further away you would need to contact a VGF owner, or a rental broker like David's (dvcrequest.com), to determine.

You will use about the same number of points for an OKW one bedrom villa - one king bed, one queen sleeper sofa and one twin sized sleeper chair. Plus a full sized washer and dryer and full sized kitchen.

The GFV studios require a lot of points for a studio.

As mentioned, you will have to contact an owner who has VGF points to use for a rental reservation in order to find out availability between the 7 and 11 month window

We do not allow that to be shared here because availability changes minute to minute and unless you are ready to book, knowing that something is available does you really no good because it can be gone before you book. The same thing is true for booked rooms--what is booked today could be suddenly open tomorrow.

Good luck!

The OKW 1 bedroom would be 56 more points than the GF Studio for our stay according to the point calculator I saw on David's Vacation Club Rentals. That translates to almost $800 on that particular site where they charge $14 per point. Once I get to that amount (the added $800), I'm better off staying in a deluxe standard room when considering the cost. (The space and extras do not interest us too much, because we don't spend much time in our room or even at the resort.)

Thanks for the information. As said I have never gone the DVC rental route before. Is there a thread or different board I should read to learn the ins and outs for renting points? When renting points from a site such as David's Vacation rental club, do you rent the points and hope you get a villa you want, or do you request the resort you want and then only rent the points once/when they can get you a villa you want?

I've not rented from David's but I thought about it once and I'm pretty sure that first you put in a request, and if it is available than you pay in full. There might be some sort of refundable deposit when they check to see if something is open, I'm not sure, but if the room you want is not open, I'm pretty sure you are not charged.

One negative re: VGF, since it's so new, most of the people who own there are not as interested in renting their points and are using them instead. David's only has points to rent, if an owner at a resort sells them to David to rent. There is of course always a chance a VGF studio will be open to book at the 7 month mark, but depending on time of year you want to visit, it can be a challenge.

Good luck!
