My youngest (still a toddler) has anaphylactic food allergies so we have both Auvi-Qs and EpiPens.

We always carry two Auvi-Qs at a time in case of rebound reactions while en route to the hospital. What do you carry yours in to protect it at the beach, parks, water parks, pool, etc?

My epi pen comes in a hard plastic case so I just toss it in the bottom of my purse/park bag, whatever I am carrying and let my family know where it is in case I get stung.

I bought a Frio bag for our epi and Auvi-Q. It keeps it at the desired room temperature because Florida can get HOT. I don’t keep the Auvi In the box, I do keep the epi in the plastic case. You activate the bag with regular cold water, then put the EPI in the cool bag keeps it protected and at the right temp.

I think this might work for his day to day when he’s older, and really I’ll be happy if he consistently carries, but this frazzled mama needs a set place, lol. Like a quick visual in my diaper bag that it’s there or I can quickly grab it out of my diaper bag and bring it into a store or hand it off to a care giver. I’m also nervous about heat because it gets so hot here in VA. Thank you! Gives me hope to see an adult take their anaphylaxis seriously.

as someone who worked in daycare for years check the rules where he stays and this is also true for schools as you might not be allowed to just hand to caregiver

He is only watched by the Y Child Watch and my parents, one day I hope to find a great babysitter. Daycares and schools definitely have their own policies, we're homeschooling so it's not a factor for us.

I'll also chime in for the Frio. I bought one to use for my insulin in TX, worked great at keeping things a comfortable temp even sitting in a bag in the sun all day. They offer them in different sizes and colors.

Ours come in cases. If we think they need further protection we put them in a ziplock bag. We generally never leave them in a vehicle or laying out in the sun. If they are with us or shaded they're fine.

I have my daughters in a Le Sportsac cosmetic size bag that came with my diaper bag ages ago, it has brightly colored animals on it so it’s easy to grab & is waterproof. I also keep benedryl & her allergy plan in there so it’s always together. She’s almost 6 now & she knows to grab her “allergy bag” before going to a restaurant or friends house
