Hi All,

I was wondering if they still give the kids Driver's Licenses at some point before or after your ride on Autopia? And...is there still a machine that will take a kids photo and issue one for a fee? Any idea how much if there is ??

My DS has his heart set on a license at some point during our trip in a few weeks:)
Thanks everyone....DD

I'm pretty sure they still give out the licenses. Not sure about the machine. Nemo took over the shop that had them in that area. If it still there I thought it was around $5.

Would like to know this too. We skipped DLR this year and did WDW instead. They didn't give DD a liscense and she was really dissapointed

We rode Autopia a couple weeks ago and they did give us licenses. Not sure about the machine.

My tip is this, if you have kids and have a purse with a pen / pencil, fill the licenses out for the kids. They will love it.

The machines to take the pictures were still there when we were in DL in November. They were part way down the exit ramp.

Not one machine was ever working for us last year on our trip.

Thanks to everyone for your replies......you've given me some good ideas.

We just brought our own pictures from home and taped it on it. Also I brought a small wallet to put their's in and the kids loved it! Can't wait to give it to them in the future when they get their drivers permit for a joke.

We used it this past Feb for our son, it cost $5.00 and it was very cheesy. Prints about 10 or 15 mini face shots (very small) and are stickers. If I would do it again I'd take our own pictures and add them on.

How cool! We never knew about the licences as WDW don't hand them out. :sad2: This will be our first visit to DL - we'll have to get one of these for DD - she will love it!

We were there last weekend & they were still handing out the licenses and the machines were still there. All 3 seemed to be working. (BTW - it's $5 or the strip of pictures).

We were there in December and the kids loved getting the pictures taken. It is a little cheesy and $5. :upsidedow

But, the fun thing about the picture machines is that you can choose different backgrounds. Each mini photo can say Disneyland on them too. There are a few different options. The one my kids liked was the checkered background.

Thanks for the honest responses......Cheesy is good! My son wanted us to drive all of the way to legoland just to get a drivers license from their drivers course. ( He remembers them from three years ago!) When I told him about this at DL, he seems to be alright with it. I'll spend $5 on some cheesy photos if it means not driving:)

He doesn't ask for alot but when he does, he cherishes it.
Thanks again.....DD

I agree that it's better to not use the photo machines.

I would be curious to know what other have experienced with the photo booths at the Autopia exit. Maybe they work better for older children, because they're taller, but I found them to be really difficult to use for my then-DS5 and then-DD4. Younger children need to be physically lifted up to get into the view of the camera, and it took a few minutes to get a photo, and the photo wasn't very good.

If "cheesy" means "digitized with poor resolution," then I would say that the photos were cheesy. :)

I thought that I must have been doing something wrong, so on my second trip 3 months later I tried the photo booths again. My experience the second time was just as awful. I really don't think I was doing anything wrong. I think those machines are just user unfriendly.

The next time I will just do my own cut-and-paste and save $5. But that was just my experience, well, 2 experiences, and YMMV.

HTH :earsboy:
